Amazon Announces GameCircle for Kindle Fire

Amazon

Do you recall Amazon's push into the tablet market? The Kindle Fire is an interesting device but as far as gaming goes it is certainly not the ideal market at the moment. In an attempt to make gaming on the device more interesting for users, which would then mean more profits for developers, Amazon today introduced GameCircle.

What's this GameCircle thingamajig about? It introduces the ability for developers to integrate achievements, leaderboards, and game syncing with their titles. The first two aren't revelations but it is surprising that they weren't already a part of the service. Sync will connect to a player's Amazon account so they can play wherever they left off in a game across multiple devices. This synced data (leaderboard stats, achievements, and saves) is stored in Amazon's massive cloud.

Although GameCircle's announcement is meant to stir up interest in developers, it's also of benefit to Kindle Fire gamers. Here's a video detailing what the new service has to offer:

Would you play mobile games more if they had achievements and leaderboards?
