Assassin's Creed III Steelbook Hitting Retail Shelves As Early As Next Week

Assassin's Creed III is on everybody's mind following the big reveal that the franchise will be tackling the New World in the Revolutionary War.

The franchise's most recent installment has innumerable routes to explore, but eager fans are more than willing to do their part to obtain freedom from the corruption of the Templars.

While your adventure may not begin until October, starting as early as March 10th you can secure your own piece of templar treasure. Best Buy and FutureShop have secured an early pre-order that will be hitting their shelves very soon.  This G1-sized steelbook boasts some superb artwork and great for fans and collectors alike.

Now to the question on everybody's mind.  How does one secure their own steelbook?

Simply find the case in store, typically located in Best Buy's gaming department, and place a $5 pre-order deposit on Assassin's Creed III.  At this point the steelbook is yours and the deposit will then be deducted from your purchase of the full game in October*.

A rumor is currently floating  about that Gamestop will also be receiving a steelbook, but there seems to be no confirmation one way or the other.  Personally, I suggest getting in on this deal early because this particular bonus is one that will undoubtedly go fast.

I dunno if I'll be grabbing this (while I liked 2 well enough, I don't think I'm invested enough in the series to get collectible stuff), but the boxart is pretty fresh, so I approve.
This game is gonna be awesome.
Its a weird way to make a preorder, but it is a smart move on their part releasing it so soon after announcing the game. They're certainly hitting their market just as the hype begins.
Steelbooks are great, and nice to look at especially if you have collection going. Best Buy has done these SB preorder bonuses before but only with Disney blurays (which, by the way, has become rare and pricey). It's a smart move because most people know that ubisoft games tends to depreciate after a month, so they would rather buy it used or wait a while before buying the game. At least this way, it'll attract more people to buying it new on release day and locking-in those preorder numbers.

It's tempting...
Can I just put down $5 and get the Steelbook? I want that but not the game, at least, not at launch.
I'm with Ludono here :P It'd be sweet to grab one of these books and then maybe get the game when it goes down in price a bit. Anything to make my collection look better.
These popped up at Gamestop today as well. Supposed to receive it when you put your pre-order down.
Amazon is doing the same.
