Diablo III Act 1 Restrictions Are Now a Little Less Restrictive

Things were starting to get a bit crazy for a while where Diablo III was concerned. Well, they're still kind of messed up but not quite as badly as before. A little while ago, Blizzard decided they needed to impose a 72 hour period to verify digital purchases of the game. This was meant to help keep hackers at bay but would also keep new players from accessing public games, auction house, trade items, or even chat in public channels. This wasn't the worst of it though. The real problem with the patch was that it caused many players to report that they could not progress beyond level 13 with their characters. They were also unable to go beyond Act 1. Blizzard said that was an unintended side effect, and only lasted up to 72 hours, but was still definitely a hindrance to newly addicted Diablo players.
Thankfully, Blizzard got around to addressing this issue by updating their 1.0.3 patch this week. Now those who purchase the game digitally will be able to get to level 14 and beyond as well as get the heck out of Act 1. In order for the new patch to be applied you have to update the Diablo III client itself. Now that Blizzard has that headache out of the way we'll have to see what the next patch brings.
