Game Genie for PS3 is Out Now

We knew it was coming but the day has finally arrived where the Game Genie is now available for PS3. No, it's not the same old Game Genie that we probably remember, but it's still first and foremost a cheat device. With the tool being available now here's a good time to clarify all the misconceptions about what it actually does.

It does not allow unlocking of on-disc DLC that would otherwise be something you need to purchase. It also doesn't currently work with locked saves. Once you are playing a game with a "modified" save file it will also keep trophies from unlocking, but you can always go back and grab your original save once you want to get them again. Finally, the cheats don't work online. So, really, the devices lets you level up madly in games or get all the equipment, but nothing that should really bother anyone else.

With all that said let's look at what Hyperkin highlighted as the features of their new Game Genie:

• Automatic profile reassignment
• Ability to trade game save files with other players
• Secure access to comprehensive, continuously updated cheat database

Some of the big name titles which have codes already created for them are Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, Batman: Arkham City, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. It's available now on Amazon. The question is, will it be a hit or has the ship for cheat device popularity sailed?
