Metal Gear Solid 5 is Confirmed, and Will Be Foxy

Metal Gear Solid 5, we knew you were coming but we're still glad to see you. Industry darling and Kojima Productions head honcho Hideo Kojima has confirmed that Metal Gear Solid 5 not only is in production, but that it will run on the Fox Engine they have been showing off.

The French magazine IG Magazine (via Gameranx) interviewed Kojima for their June-July issue, where the gaming hero talked about his next sequel-after-the-series-ended, stating that Metal Gear Solid 5 would use the Fox Engine, but denying that the demo footage released before was actually related to the game.

As for the gameplay itself, Kojima states that Metal Gear Solid 5 adheres to the stealth of the series, unlike the more action-oriented upcoming Revengeance, made under Platinum Games and their sweet, delicate touch.

But hey, that doesn't mean that this is your great-great-grandfather's Metal Gear Solid either, though. Kojima was apparently struck by the character interactions of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, stating, "I liked the idea of social interactions of Deus Ex: Human Revolution but we'll see." He couldn't say more, but that's... interesting, considering the possible fundamental change in the way the game would be played were that the case.

Kojima's clearly to be involved in the project, though the degree is not clear. Equally hazy is the choice of console, plot points, setting, or the time frame for the release of the next bearer of the Metal Gear title.

What we do have, however, is confirmation, and that isn't nothing.

If it's running on that new engine does that mean it's a next gen launch title?

Maybe so, we'll see! If it's about Snake again, it'll be kind of lame to have to keep replacing the tennis balls on the bottom of your walker and stuff.
Let the speculation begin! At this point, Snake's death might as well have a date abbreviate: BSD and PSD (before Snake's death and post Snake's death). I'm guessing the game will have snippets from BSD, but a majority of the plot will likely take place in the aftermath of Snake's passing (PSD). What say you folks?

I hope so! I bought a PS3 for MGS4 and I would buy a PS4 for MGS5~
I bought the PS3 for MGS4. Actually bought the 80gb BC MGS4 Bundle used as a blind buy. It has been working pretty well for 5 years now and still going strong. I would definitely get PS4 if MGS5 is on there. Anyways I am excited to hear this announcement as I'm a big MGS fan. The thing is I'm wondering about is what will the story be? They could do a prequel like remake Metal Gear 1 and 2, Some backstory with other characters, or even an new adventure.

I think at this point they should just save it for the next gen console. That would be a good selling game at launch for the ps4.

I really wonder who will be the main lead? Will we get another lead character and Snake will only make a Cameo (something along the lines of MGS2). Or is he completely gone. We start the game and they mention Snake and we soon find out he is dead already. Will it be on Raiden or will he even make a major impact in the story? I would say Snake is out of it and will be mention in the game. As it seems MGS4 is it for Snake. A sad ending for me as I almost cried during the MGS 4 ending.

Anyhow, I'm definitely buying this game and is glad the man himself is working on MGS 5. It wouldn't be the same without him.
