Microsoft Giving Refunds To SDTV Owners Who Purchased Minecraft

Apparently nobody testing Minecraft on the Xbox 360 thought to try it out on an SDTV, the hit PC game that was recently brought over to Xbox Live where it smashed sales records on the console seems to be having a bit of trouble adapting. Unfortunately the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft is unable to access split screen mode if you aren't using an HDTV.

As I'm sure most of you are aware, not everyone has an HDTV. Notch and Microsoft were apparently unaware of this limitation and are now giving refunds to anyone who purchased Minecraft and would like to get their money back. I can't confirm what happens to your copy of Minecraft after you get a refund, but odds are you'll lose access to it.There is also a warning on the game's description letting people know about the problem before they buy it.

Have fun going through customer support to get your refund! http://support.xbox.com/en-US/

Just wondering... Anyone here still on a SDTV?

I am really surprised enough users complained that they are issuing refunds.

Cool story though, and props to MS for making things right. I'm sure this will get patched in the next update though.
I'm sure they are going to get a lot of refund requests from people who aren't even using an SDTV. I know there are definitely some still in circulation, but how many of those people have an Xbox 360 and bought Minecraft? They can't really take the file off of your Xbox, but they will ban you if you get the refund and keep playing the game. It's very easy for them to track your account activity, so that's a warning for anyone trying to abuse this offer.
It's an old statistic, but I remember a couple years ago there was some statistic pointing to HDTV adoption only being around 50%.
I have CRT and a few SD tvs.One still functions but only has this greenish color from a short circuit caused by an Xbox 360.
My friend still games on an SDTV since he never really saved up money for an HDTV. He hates it though...

Yes. I don't game on it though anymore, just television. That sucks some of the features don't work with it, but it's good they're giving refunds and now are providing a disclaimer for that.
