Microsoft Won't Be Making an Appearance at Either Gamescom or TGS
First Nintendo and Sega announced that they won't be showing up at gamescom, one of the largest gaming events in the world. Now Microsoft seems to be following in their footsteps by announcing today that they won't be making an appearance there either. And not just gamescom, but also Tokyo Game Show.Larry Hryb of Microsoft, also known as Major Nelson, was the one to give us the news this morning:
"As you saw at E3, we have a solid line-up of games launching this holiday, along with other entertainment experiences. We’ve changed our approach a little, though. This year, Xbox will be focusing on smaller, more localized promotions and experiences for press, partners, retailers and customers around the world. Which means that as you might have seen on some of the news sites today, we won’t be taking part in gamescom or Tokyo Games Show this year."
gamescom takes place in Cologne, Germany from August 15-19. Tokyo Game Show takes place from September 20-23.
What are your thoughts on Microsoft opting out of these big gaming events?

Lots of questions with MS and Nintendo though. Nintendo literally has a new console coming out this year. What do they have to gain by skipping a giant conference in a major territory? Microsoft certainly doesn't lose much by skipping TGS but Europe is still a tight market. I imagine it's important to at least keep up appearances and give European gamers access to Gears and Halo.
