Next Saints Row: The Third Expansion Not Coming to the Game After All

Saints Row: The Third was meant to have a lot of downloadable content, and so far, it's done pretty well providing it. The next big pack was meant to be Enter the Dominatrix, which would even come in a standalone disc version. Unfortunately, today THQ has said that the expansion is no longer going to be a part of Saints Row: The Third at all, but it's not gone either.

THQ President Jason Rubin said this:

"When I looked at the Enter The Dominatrix expansion in production at Volition, I was blown away by the ideas and desire to expand the fiction of the franchise. I asked the team what it could achieve given more time, more resources, and a broader scope for the project. We all agreed we wanted to play that game.

When it comes to Saints Row, it’s clear our fans want bigger, better, and even more over the top, and that’s why Enter The Dominatrix will now be incorporated into a vastly expanded, full-fledged sequel, scheduled for calendar 2013. We believe the potential for this sequel is far greater as a full-priced, full-length, high quality, connected experience."

So there you have it. Enter the Dominatrix will no longer be a standalone expansion, but instead a part of the next game in the Saints Row series. This next game is tentatively titled "The Next Great Sequel in the Saints Row Franchise" although you can expect the final name to be much shorter and less humorous.

Quite a change from a couple of weeks ago when Rubin called the franchise embarrassing. it's a shame, though, if ETD was looking that good, SR3 might have actually had a good piece of DLC.
