Assassin's Creed III for Wii U Details

Need some reasons why you should pick the Wii U version of Assassin's Creed III over the PS3 or 360 versions? Well, Nintendo Gamer magazine has given us a look-see on what exactly the Wii U's controller will provide over the other two systems that may sway your opinion.

With the Wii U controller acting as a second screen, it will grant you a bevy of features that will enhance your Assassin's Creed III experience. According to Nintendo Gamer, it will act as a sort of link to the Animus. What elements that have been revealed so far are as follows:
  • Will work as a constant on-screen map and navigation tool
  • Database entries on characters and whatnot will pop up on the touchscreen instead of the main game screen
  • Will also act as an encyclopedia of sorts, so you're able to read up on biographies, events, and other aspects of the game without having to be tied to your TV
  • Quick and easy weapon changing
  • Alternate view for Eagle Vision
And that's just what has been given out so far. Who knows if there will be more features for the Wii U version of the game to come?

Will the unique features of the Wii U version of Assassin's Creed III persuade you to pick it up over the PS3 or 360 version?

I'm definitely not getting AC3 at launch, so getting it for the Wii U one day down the road is definitely a possibility for me. I'm real excited about the Wii U's potential, but really need to get my hands on one before I can make a real decision about the system. I'm hoping it's the only system I'll need to buy for the next generation. I own every console from this generation and don't want to make that mistake again.
I kind of figured that's what the screen was going to be used for. I bet a lot of games are just going to use the controller screen for maps and HUD info, especially the ones ported over from the PS3 or 360. The eagle eye vision one sounds cool though, and that is the kind of thing the Wii U needs to be embracing. I hope it's actually utilized well, and I hope other games take a more creative approach to using the screen.
