Earlier on Twitter, Nintendo announced two new colors for the DSi handheld: matte red and matte blue. According to the tweet, they could be in-stores as early as this week, so it seems safe to say that we could see them in most stores by next Sunday or so.

It looks as if the DSi is still alive and kicking then, but one has to wonder why Nintendo didn't take opportunity to announce new colors for the upcoming 3DS XL as well.

In any case, the DSi is still a great choice for portable gaming with a vast library if you haven't gotten around to buying one yet (and perhaps are still waiting for the 3DS's library to expand in the meantime).
