Rumors have been abounding for a while about a major crossover game for 3DS featuring a collaboration between Namco Bandai, Capcom, and Sega, and now thanks to Famitsu magazine, the game stands revealed. Say hello to Project X Zone (pronounced "Project Cross Zone").Although not immediately apparent from the revealed screenshots, the game is actually a strategy RPG and not a fighter, and will feature characters from each of the three publishers' catalogs. Apparently the characters will team up in pairs for fighting scenes as indicated by the screens.

Here are the confirmed characters and their pairings so far:
Capcom
- Ryu & Ken (Street Fighter 0)
- X and Zero (Mega Man)
- Demitri and Dante (Darkstalkers and Devil May Cry)
- Chris and Jill (Resident Evil)
- Shinguji Sakura and Ogami Ichiro (Sakura Wars)
- Pai and Akira (Virtua Fighter)
- Kurt and Riela (Valkyria Chronicles)
- Ulala and Touma (Space Channel 5 and Shining Force EXA)
- Sanger Somvold (Super Robot Wars)
- Jin and Ling Xiaoyu (Tekken)
- Kos-Mos and T-elos (Xenosaga)
- Yurie and Estel (Tales of Vesperia)
- Kaito and Black Rose (.hack)

The Capcom troll in me can't help but notice that a version of Mega Man was deemed popular enough to be in this game...
I believe that list of names is actually the Japanese version, not American, since the info came from Adriasang (a site that sources Japanese material). So if there are any mistakes on the names, well...that's why.
While I really doubt this would get published (like Namco x Capcom, mainly because it would be a publishing nightmare and NIS would probably be the only publisher brave enough to bring it over...but I doubt even they would get a hold of it), if it did somehow get localized and by somebody like Sega, I'm not going to lie and say I wouldn't feel more than a bit offended especially since we haven't seen Valkyria Chronicles 3 brought over yet (which this game cameos 2 characters from 3, so that would be like salt on a wound).... yes, I'll find an excuse to continue to bring up how I want VC3 until I finally crack and import it in a couple of months, but Sega, I'm hopin'!
Reminds me of some other Japanese Namco game that was like this with Rival Schools characters and Street Fighter. The only cool part I remember is this
