Nintendo Wii U
Nintendo has done it. They finally announced almost all the information that consumers want to know about their upcoming system. The Wii U is coming and at a date which many knew would be the case. Nintendo's Wii U will be out in the US on November 18, 2012. In Europe, it will arrive slightly later on the 30th. Japan will see it on December 8th.The console will come in two versions, which was also rumored and speculated up to today. The two versions are called "Basic" and "Deluxe Set". With both systems you will get the console, one GamePad, HDMI cable, Wii U Sensor Bar, and AC adapters for both controllers. The Basic system comes in white and with 8GBs of storage. Wii U Basic will be $300.
Wii U Deluxe Set includes a black Wii U, GamePad, and the rest of the Basic package items. The new content for this set is that it also includes a GamePad Charging Cradle, stands for the GamePad and console, pack-in copy of NintendoLand, and 32GBs. This bundle will cost $350.
So there you have it. The release date is something that everyone basically already knew, but the price is the real surprise here. However, considering how much the GamePad itself retails for in Japan (over $140) it makes sense that this is a relatively pricey package to produce. Either way, at least now we don't have to deal with any more rumors about this information. Now to see how much the games will cost...
What do you think of the pricing? Is it what you expected?

I agree. $300 for an 8GB system is steep. I think the Wii U might actually flop. It's certainly not going to do as well as the Wii did. I think a lot of people will still see the PS3 as a better overall value. A huge mistake Nintendo made was not incorporating an achievement/trophy system with the Wii U. Trophy *****s will skip over the system because of it.
I can't remember where I heard it but I remember one site reporting that Nintendo told them there will be an achievement system of some sort, but for one reason or another, they probably didn't think it was worth mentioning today.
