OUYA Secures Deal with OnLive and Shows Off Controller

OUYA OnLive

Is the OUYA ever going to come to fruition? No one really knows yet but they're securing partnerships with companies slowly all the same. The last deal news was that they secured their first exclusive game. That was a bit underwhelming though as the studio was new and the game is going to only be a prequel.

Today there's much more interesting news from OUYA's Kickstarter page. OnLive is going to be available on the console. It is just another device you can use to stream games through (in addition to smartphones, smart TVs, PCs).  You purchase games through OnLive, so you'll still need to buy titles off the service if you want to make use of the app fully. Otherwise, you'll have access to their digital library of 30 minute game demos.

In other news, they finally showed a full picture of the controller. This has been a bit silly since beforehand, they only showed a part of the controller in promotional shots. Despite calling it the "Stradivarius of controllers" they weren't ready to share the full design until now (probably due to designing a directional pad that wouldn't infringe on copyrights). The design is still a work in progress. Case in point - the simple color rings on the buttons are noted as being placeholders.

What do you think about OnLive? What about the controller - does it look comfortable?

OnLive is a pretty good service. I used it on my laptop for a while and enjoyed it for the most part.
I don't care too much about OnLive, but having it available will surely help OUYA in the long run. It's chances of succeeding just got a bit better, I would say.

Also, that controller needs symbols or letters on the face buttons for sure.
I really like the concept of Onlive, and while my internet is not good enough to give it a real go, I think this is great news for the console. I am really excited to see where this thing goes!
