Konami released Silent Hill: Downpour and the Silent Hill HD Collection for 360 and PS3 owners in March. While fans are split on how good or bad these games were, basically everyone agrees that they could use a patch or two. Even here on GP, my reviews of both games suggested they would be better experiences if only the games were free from their technical issues. There was initially one patch for Silent Hill HD Collection on PS3 but it didn't appear to fix much. Konami has now announced that a new online patch is coming soon for both titles, and for both systems. These patches are focused on the main solvable issues that users have been complaining about.
For Silent Hill HD Collection the upcoming patch will address both frame rate and audio-syncing issues. Silent Hill: Downpour's patch is focused around the annoying, and often lying, auto-save function. While these patches will no doubt be of great use, they still leave other problems un-addressed, such as fog density for the HD Collection and frame rate woes in Downpour. Hopefully we can see patches to address these issues too in the near future.
