Rockstar Explains the Delay of Grand Theft Auto V and Shoots Down Conspiracy Theories

Grand Theft Auto GTA Grand Theft Auto V GTA V Rockstar Take-Two Xbox 360 PS3 delay release date

Last week, we told you about how Grand theft Auto V had been pushed back for a September release date. Rockstar themselves were the ones to announce this delay in a post on their official website. Now it appears the company has updated that post with an explanation as to why there is a delay:

“Sometimes such delays are necessary in all forms of entertainment," said a Rockstar representative, "and especially in the case of a game experience as massive and complex as GTAV.” The representative continues to say that “to those of you saying or seeing various conspiracy theories about there being some other ulterior motive for this delay, rest assured that they’re all nonsense – literally the only reason we’ve delayed the release is because we want the game to be as good as it needs to be.”

Along with GTA V's release date being pushed back, so too was the game's box art reveal, which was originally supposed to be shown off last month. Rockstar has explained that the box art “will be coming out a bit later as well.”

Are you looking forward to Grand Theft Auto V?

What kind of idiots came up with conspiracy theories about the release date of a game being pushed back? Yeah, ok, it's like, the biggest video game release of...ever (depending on who you ask...not my opinion, that's for sure) but still, games get delayed all the time, especially big, ambitious, complex, open-world games. People seem to have way too much time on their hands while they wait for this game...they need to find something else to do while they wait.
The conspiracy that it was pushed back to be on next gen hardware. Not such a reach.
