SDCC 2012: Marvel Announces New Deadpool Game For 2013

Deadpool Marvel High Moon Studios SDCC 2012

Deadpool fans rejoice! Marvel has announced that a brand new game for the character is in development by Transformers: Fall of Cybertron developer High Moon Studios. The title is simply Deadpool, and it's coming in 2013. No specific platforms have been announced just yet.

IGN seems to believe that none other than Nolan North (voice of Nathan Drake in Uncharted) is voicing Deadpool, but this was not confirmed with the announcement of the game.

As for the actual game itself, Deadpool looks to be pretty faithful to its comic book counterpart, meaning the game will feature lots of foul humor and over-the-top violence among other things. And judging from the trailer, it looks like it will likely be an M-rated game instead of the T-rating that Marvel games typically get.

Check out the official trailer on IGN (forewarned, it does feature mature language and humor as well as excessive violence).

After watching the full trailer, I'm treating it with skepticism. I fully trust High Moon Studios with everything they do. I have implicit faith in their ability to make any property into a fun, varied gameplay experience. I'm just not down with the restrained violence and humor of the game. Compared to the Wolverine game (which I felt like High Moon referenced with that one quote), Deadpool is incredibly tame. I'll wait to pass judgement until I can see more or try the game, but I'm not exactly ecstatic about it either.
Not deadpool. Couldn't they pick someone interesting? I'm not a fan of the joke/****** attitude.
I'm sure it'll be a decent action game. High Moon games are usually good but they never hit it out of the park. Deadpool fans have been asking for a movie forever, so I guess this game is probably for them. I think Marvel is really trying to take over all forms of entertainment.
Oh that's definitely Nolan North!
If they can make the mix between crazy jokes and insane gore, I consider this an instant purchase.
