Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy announced for June release

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Crash Bandicoot Activision Vicarious Visions PS4

Yesterday Activision teased a release date announcement for Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy on Twitter, and today they delivered. You'll get to reconnect with all three original Crash games on PS4 on June 30.

Vicarious Visions' Kara Massie took some time to do a Q&A on the PlayStation Blog regarding the game, mentioning that the reason it took them until now to announce the release date is because they wanted to make certain they could deliver the game in a timeframe they were confident in.

Massie also revealed that their version of Crash would be wearing "surfer shorts", the soundtrack composition has been completely remade, there is added real-time lighting in a PBR (physically-based rendering) engine and an increase in texture size, and that they consider N. Sane Trilogy to be a AAA remaster, not a remake.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy will retail for $40.

Are you glad to finally get a release date for N. Sane Trilogy?

I was hoping to play it sooner, but I guess I should be glad it's not a holiday release or something. Not like there aren't plenty of games to keep me busy until then, some of which are 3D platformers so maybe they'll distract me long enough to not think about finally playing these wonderful games in glorious HD. And that when I get the Trilogy I might finally be able to finish the original game.

Same. I actually started the first Crash Bandicoot several years back -- everything was going well until that stupid bridge level. Tried a number of times to beat it but it's super cheap and badly designed... so I left off there and never looked back.

So this is a remake? This is one series I totally have forgotten and never even thought it would have been good when I was younger. I think I got to play a demo on one of those PS1 disc and actually liked it but I never did buy any of the games that I can recall. So this is a good chance to grab them all.

Glad I preordered this w/GCU under $30. I'm excited and I've only played Warped which was the first PSOne game I got when I first got my PSOne.

This is the perfect time to release a game like this. Heading into summer when things quiet down before the early fall. People have time but also don't want to spend loads of it inside.

I wasn't sure if I'd get it but now I definitely will. Why not?

It definitely hits the price sweet spot, that's for sure. 3 games for $40 is a great value, and I think it'll do very well at that price. Kudos to Sony and Activision for deciding to go lower than $60.
