IGN Accidentally Makes Playstation Plus Dirt Cheap

The usual going rate for a single month of Playstation Plus is between $4-$6. After the events that took place yesterday however, the price has dropped down to as low as one dollar a month. And there are plenty to find for sale.

What "events" am I referring to? Well, yesterday morning the well known gaming website IGN held a giveaway for Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale beta keys. Every person who signed up for the giveaway was given two access codes.

The idea was that a person would share their second code with a friend, but people found out rather quickly that IGN wasn't actually giving out PSASBR codes. They were giving out Playstation Plus codes.

Did I also mention the fact that IGN had absolutely nothing set in place to stop people from getting more than two codes? Sure you had to make an account to get them, but there was no email activation. You could put jibberish into the signup page and still get accepted.

Well, the promotion is done for obvious reasons and people are looking to sell what they've got. Thanks to so many people exploiting the giveaway however, codes are virtually worthless and the market is flooded.

The best place to buy them right now are the cheapassgamer trading forums seeing as they were the origin of the giveaway posting. I've actually seen people selling a year's worth of codes for as little as ten dollars there.

Not everyone has caught up with the times so prices are still high in places, but it won't be long before they drop too. So if you're looking to buy, now is the time to act. One quick reminder though. Seeing as these are one month codes you'll need either a credit or debit card attached to your account to use them.

I went into this expecting a PSASBRHDTFRE code as well. Since Sony has no problem charging my card with a trial fee, but every problem accepting it for actual purchases, they're pretty worthless to me =/

I'm disappointed that I missed out on this. I was totally browsing CAG yesterday when this popped out so I don't know why I overlooked it (well, I know why, because I don't look at the contest/free stuff section that much nowadays, but that's not the point).

I remember seeing this on CAG, but I didn't really want to bother with it myself. You'd think a site with a large userbase like IGN would have the foresight to make sure this couldn't be exploited in any way, but I guess they learned how to do coupon codes from EA. :lol:

I had trouble getting PSN to take my card the first time I tried it, so I resorted to buying a PSN card. It wasn't until I had a decent amount of money in my account that it began accepting it...I'm pretty sure there's an "-ism" for that. XD

I've never attached a credit card with PSN because it never takes my card anyway..I guess that's a good thing if they get hacked again. I still have a credit card attached to my Microsoft account, but they will not remove it even after I explained to them I don't have a 360 anymore. I just hope they don't try to charge anything on it in the future.

I wouldn't trust Micro$oft not to charge my card for whatever reason they can come up with, especially if they refuse to remove it. That's just stupid that they're keeping it on your account when you can't even use it.

I've been desperately entering as many contests lately (in the past few weeks) for PS+ codes, and haven't won a thing. The funny thing was, I actually saw this yesterday on IGN when I was looking at something else, and disregarded it as it claimed to be just for PSASBR.

I'm really pissed at the ~~assholes~~ (excuse my language) people who are trying to sell them. I mean, REALLY? You nabbed twenty codes and just sold eighteen of them for $20 eh? Wow, that sure does make you cool. -_-

EDIT: Oh, if you still have a code left 905 I would love to have it. Thanks for the generosity!

EDIT #2: Never mind, I saw that they both were claimed.

Yea I got a pair of these. I WAS going to get about 3 sets or so, but i decided against it cause I get fre emoney from Bing anyway, but DAMN thoes codes ran out fast. And *******s who try to SELL them are the absolute WORST.

If you get something for FREE you never sell it. That's different on Contests imo, but , I'm talking somebody says "here's a dollar< and u got 10 BUCKS 4 THIS"
