While the LEGO Star Wars series still apparently has ten years left in its lifespan, The LEGO Group has decided to branch out with a LEGO Lord of the Rings set by the year's end. A recently leaked store page has let the boiled, mashed, and stewed potatoes out of the bag, however, that the series that so many people hold precious may be getting a LEGO-ized video game release as well.
The store page was for ShopTo, listing LEGO Lord of the Rings as an Xbox 360 game targeted for an October 26 release this year. This was confirmed when inserts within the early copies of the toy sets, sent to bloggers and reviewers, have revealed the game's upcoming existence.
One does not simply make a single Lord of the Rings game, however. With the upcoming Hobbit movie, and the LEGO games seeing a series of their own, it may be very likely that this may be the beginning of a long partnership.
Whether or not that is the case, you can look forward to seeing Frodo, Gandalf, Gimli, LEGOlas, and others this fall.
