We knew it was coming, and it's finally here. While no official name was given to the name just yet, series producer Eiji Aonuma confirmed that The Legend of Zelda for Wii U will feature the game's first truly open 3D world. Players can set off in any direction to explore the world as they please, much like in The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds from last year.
The game's visuals were also revealed to be carried on from Skyward Sword's, showing a painterly aesthetic brought to life in 1080p. We got a glimpse of what appears to be Hyrule Field and Link on his horse Epona from a distance. At the end of the video, a large Octorok-like mechanical beast chases Link and Epona until they reach a pier by a lake where Link jumps and shoots the creature with a bow & arrow of some type.
Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, the game is currently slated for release in 2015 next year, but we'll likely get more information on it through Nintendo Directs coming later in the year and beyond. For now, be sure to check out the video below.
