After Nintendo of America revealed that they would only be launching the New Nintendo 3DS XL in early 2015, many fans predicted that the smaller, regular-sized New Nintendo 3DS would follow later on in the year, presumably around Fall. And they were right.
Nintendo announced at the GameStop Managers Conference in Las Vegas that two new special edition 3DS models would be launching this Fall. The first is a bundle that includes Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, the smaller New Nintendo 3DS model, two Animal Crossing-inspired cover plates, and one amiibo card at an MSRP of $219.99.
However, it appears that the regular-sized New Nintendo 3DS is only obtainable through this bundle for the meantime as no plans have been detailed to sell it as a standalone unit.
The second special model will be the Hyrule Edition New Nintendo 3DS XL which is emblazoned in gold and features the Hyrulian crest on the front. Unfortunately, The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes will not be a pack-in and instead be sold separately.
Also, three new Wii Remote Plus colors were announced. They will correspond to colors for classic Mario characters Toad, Bowser, and Yoshi. And finally, the NFC Reader/Writer for 3DS was announced for release on Sept. 25 for $19.99.
Will you be buying either of the New Nintendo 3DS models coming out?
