PC gamers have come to love Steam as the ultimate place to go for digital gaming deals and indie titles. However, Amazon has also made itself well known over the years with its own excellent deals on both physical and digital games. More recently, many of their sales have rivaled Steam and it seems Amazon is more than willing to tread into that territory.
Today they opened up an Indie Games section. Here's what Amazon says about it:
"The Amazon Indie Games Store helps independent game developers reach more customers, and helps customers learn about more creative games and the people and processes behind building those games."
What might make this a new favorite site for indie game fans? For one, Amazon is also going to dole out weekly deals here. Indie game bundles also happen to have 100% of their proceeds go to the developers. Along with that indie-friendly image, Amazon also has an Indie Spotlight which is going to focus on different independent developers regularly. Finally, through July 17th, they are celebrating the new section by giving away free indie games with purchase of others.
What's on sale for the page's opening? There are apparently 200 games on sale such as Bastion, Don't Starve, Hotline Miami, Super Meat Boy, and pretty much everything else you might expect. Many of these downloads come with Steam keys.
