The Vita found itself as the subject of numerous debates over the course of the year, but complaints regarding the lack of software ruled the bulk of those discussions. Fortunately, the last few months have given Vita owners hope with even more new game announcements. D3 Publisher of America confirmed in September that Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable will be battling its way to North America shores, but they have slightly narrowed the launch window and highlighted upgraded features today through the Official Playstation Blog.
Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable is currently being described as the definitive EDF experience for North America. D3 Publisher of America stated the core elements of Earth Defense Force 2017 remain intact and shall feature a few key enhancements. Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable is set to offer an online co-op mode which can support up to four players and in-game chat. Individuals can even engage in a competitive multiplayer mode, allowing players to utilize their arsenal to assert domination.
Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable also brings new personnel support with Pale Wing, an unlockable flying character, who was unavailable in the original release. The new character and multiplayer additions will be the primary draw for Vita owners; however, Portable contains new enemies, weapons and missions. The game's price and release method currently remain a mystery, but the title will be available this winter.
