Battlefield 4 Beta Impressions [Screenshots]

The Battlefield 4 Beta went up today on PC and I gave it a quick checking out. The beta features only one map, the Siege of Shanghai that's been featured at E3 and in all the trailers. It's 64 Player Conquest Large which means full scale destruction and lots of vehicles. Unfortunately for some, the beta is only playable on x64 bit machines, though the full game will be playable on 32 bit as well.

I played a match and while I had fun it seems very similar to Battlefield 3, despite the new features. I didn't find the new features to be compelling or add much to the game. The game also doesn't look much better than Battlefield 3, in fact, I'd say they looked almost identical. The map itself wasn't very pretty and despite running at max settings, I thought it look WORSE than Battlefield 3 at times.

I found an empty server and just ran through the map and took a few screenshots, check them out below.

Have you tried the Battlefield 4 Beta yet? Do you have any interest in the game? What did you think about it?

Interesting impressions. Based on those pics I agree with you, it does seem to look eactly like BF3. I was hoping it would improve, but souds like the beta is ok. Hopefully they will still improve a lot more after beta feedback. The new feature of 64 player co-op is pretty crazy. What were the new features added? I still think Battlefield Bad Company 2 is my favorite multiplayer in Battlefield games. Wish I can try out the beta, but my laptop won't run it. It looks to be a lot of fun especially playing in a large map and 64 players.

I laugh at trying to run this on my Intel HD 3000. That said, not too interested in the game despite loving class-based shooters.

Having a beta this close to launch is probably more about server stress testing than actual game settings and such.

BF3 had 64 player multiplayer as well though....

Theres the commander mode, new weapon customization options and battlepacks which are these weird stat boost things?

Shame, I was expecting you to be like freaking out over it after all the time you spent talking about it preloading and downloading.

I really wish you would have put some of those screens on spoilers lol.

Anyway it looks really nice and I will probably wait for it to come out instead of buying battlefield 3. Unless someone has amazing stuff to say about BF3.

I've been wanting to try out the BF series, but since BF3 isn't on Steam and Origin never has any good sales I've always skipped on it. Maybe now with a open beta is as good a time as any to give it a go...

But it was included in the Humble Bundle you've could've gotten for less than $5 D:
