Meet The Podunkers - TYLERxDURDEN

Meet the Podunkers is a new blog series I“ve started intended to feature members of the community, a sort of gamer spotlight if you will. I will try and have a new interview posted weekly, until I run out of willing members to feature!

Today“s interviewee is a member long considered to be forever gone,

What's the first game you've ever played?

Mario Bros for NES

Describe your current gaming setup.

I have two towers and a cabinet. The slim PS3 and the (now deceased) launch day PS3 occupy the right tower, the ps3 games, blu-rays and surround sound receiver sit in the left tower. In the cabinet I have the N64, XBOX and PS2. I play on a 46 inch LG 1080p 3D TV.

Name the one game that changed your life, that is, what's the one game that made you into the gamer you are today?

Final Fantasy VII. I always like games because they were fun (Mario, Banjo, Turtles in Time) but FFVII made me realize the narrative potential of the medium.

What is your all-time favourite game EVER?

Tie. Final Fantasy VII and Socom II. Comparing apples and oranges really.

How about your favourite character?

Lame but Sephiroth.

What's your story? How'd you end up on Game Podunk?

I think it was like 2008 or 2009 when I stumbled upon a giveaway for Tekken 4 and Uncharted maybe? I think they were quotation contests. But I checked out the site and ended up winning Tekken 4. I loved the community so much that I stuck around and ended up contributing a lot to the site.

You've been gone a long time! Any plans on returning to GP?

It's tough. When I stopped coming on GP, I had just started my current job. It is quite a bit more demanding than my previous jobs and piles on a lot more responsibility. That said, I am getting PS4 at midnight Nov 14 so hopefully my gaming habits flair up a bit and I can come here for my news!

What are your opinions on next gen? Are you excited for it? Indifferent? What's one feature you want to see or are looking forward to trying on the new systems?

As you know, I am a Sony fanboy. I cannot wait to see what the PS4 is capable of. The Xbox One looks pretty cool too and I am loving seeing the new fanboy wars shaping up. It's funny how the PS4 and Xbox One arguments have basically flipped from the PS3 and Xbox 360 arguments. This time the PS4 is running games a bit nicer and devs are having some growing pains learning the Xbox One. As we now know, it all evens out once the devs get the hang of it.

Is there one genre of game you'd like to get into, or get back into in this upcoming gen?

JRPG's. The problem is they are super time consuming and I don't have much time to give.

Which 3 people, dead or alive, would you want to play a game with? Which game?

Haha great question!

Nolan North - Conkers Bad Fur Day

Harrison Ford - Call of Duty 4

Ghandi - DOOM 3

It's the zombie apocalypse, which person, weapon and music would you have during your final stand?

My brother, a kitana, One Winged Angel. BOOM!

Anything else you'd like to add?

Where is the damn FFVII remake already?!?

What did you think of this interview? Are you glad he's back?

Pretty simple and straight to the paint answers. I like it.

Also a fan of Sony at least when it comes to their consoles. Hopefully you can make some room in your busy life to give that ps4 some attention lol.

Welcome back Tyler! Oh goodie, glad to know there's another FFVII fan. It too was my favorite game growing up. Just excited to see you returning to GP. Hope you be more active and pierce the heavens again! Woo! Nice interview!

If this interview isn't enough then...

Let me tell you a little bit about TYLERxDURDEN. Tyler was a night person. While the rest of us were sleeping, he worked. He had one part time job as a projectionist. See, a movie doesn't come all on one big reel. It comes on a few. So someone has to be there to switch the projectors at the exact moment that one reel ends and the next one begins. If you look for it, you can see these little dots come into the upper right-hand corner of the screen.

Nice to see TD back! A Final Fantasy 7 remake would be awesome.

PS4 should be awesome. I'm waiting til summer or even next fall to get one though. I still have unopened PS3 games.

yep.  FF7 fanboys are alright with me.  How can you  not love that game?  No Final Fantasy before or after connected you emotionally to the characters the way 7 did.  I'm still sad about some things in that game.  LOL
