IGN Gets a New Editor-in-Chief

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure how many people here keep track of IGN, but I still enjoy a few of their podcasts as well as some of their articles from time to time. Anyhow, today it was announced that Casey Lynch, the now-previous Editor-in-Chief of the site up to this point is now moving to another position, and Steve Butts, the previous Managing Editor, will now become the new Editor-in-Chief.

Steve Butts also use to be the Editor-in-Chief (or was it Managing Editor?) of The Escapist for a year or two, and he's definitely a cool guy from what I've heard of him on podcasts and through his writings, so it's great to see the transition happen for him. Maybe it's just me, but I find it fascinating to keep track of different industry writers' progress and who's working where now. :P

You can read Casey Lynch's blog post about it here, and Steve Butts' thoughts on it here.

Did anyone else see the news yet? If so, what do you think? Good to hear? Don't really care?

Hehehe... Butts...

Now that that's out of the way, It's always pretty interesting to hear the goings-on of fellow video game journalism sites. Like when I heard Adam Sessler became the Editor-in-Chief for Rev3Games (a YouTube channel, but still). It's certainly more positive news than the recent layoffs, that's for sure...
