Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers Being Remade for 3DS

Atlus has had a ton of success over the past few years remaking and porting some of their more popular titles to current generation handhelds. While a lot of that has been Persona-centric, it looks like they're going to branch out further into the Shin Megami Tensei world. The developer confirmed to Famitsu that they are working on a remake of Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers for the 3DS. The game will feature improved loading times, full voice acting, new battle animations, and a new intro video. That's probably a good thing considering the

was an amusing product of the 90s.

Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers was initially released for the Saturn in 1997 and then in 1999 for PlayStation. The title was never released in North America, and so far we don't know if this version will be either. It was only stated to be released in Japan on August 30th. However, with the massive success of Persona, and moderate success of their other offshoots here, it may end up in our neck of the woods as well.

Of the four games that are included in the "Devil Summoner" series, only two have made it stateside thus far. Let's hope that this will be the third!

This is pretty good news. I definitely hope the game makes it stateside.

There is almost no way the smt fans will let Atlus USA skip over this remake since they were barking about the psp and ps1 port for a decent bit. Regardless, i hope it is a solid remake or a game that has aged well (Unlike persona 1 and 2 imo).
