This looks fun. Not amazing, but worth checking out at the right price. (like $15 or less, hopefully)

I would guess $20 since I think that's where Runbow launched at. 13AM Games seems to be going for the same quality bracket as Image & Form (Steamworld series), so the price doesn't seem too farfetched, but I know what you mean.

I just hope it doesn't mean they're getting ready to shut down the PSP/PS3 PSN servers. Even though those PS Stores are terrible to use, I hope they stay up for a long while, if only because hundreds (thousands?) of games will disappear when it goes down.

I don't have a PS4 or PS+ but still think it's lame to drop last gen games. When will they learn that people still enjoy retro games? It's even more annoying when you can't buy these games anywhere anymore but yet they cry over using emulators.

Yeah, it kinda sucks. I mean, I get the business reality behind it, but it's still nice to get an extra few games each month, especially when it's mostly been indie games as of late for both platforms.

I dunno if it's just me, but I feel like a lot of big wigs have been stepping down or being replaced as of late. I wonder if the game industry is just looking to shake things up from a directive stand point or if maybe these higher ups no something that the rest of us don't. Get your tinfoil hats ready, folks.

Honestly, being CEO of a company as big as Sony can be a big headache, and I imagine Hirai wanted to leave on a high note, so this would certainly be the time to do it. Interesting that the timing comes so close to Andrew House leaving, though.

Super hype to see The World Ends with You getting some love again in something that'snot an iOS port, haha. I'll definitely be grabbing that when I get the chance! Everything else was either meh, or most expected, except Dark Souls-- REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I just beat Dark Souls for the first time like 3 weeks ago, so I'm a little sad to have waited this long and then boom, REMASTER. Though I heard somewhere the frame rate is locked at 30 again, even when docked which kinda boggles my mind since from my experience with DSFix and other players, is the primary reason the game got modded in the first place. Maybe I misunderstood it though, but hey, here's hoping we hear something new from From Software soon!

Same. I never got around to playing TWEWY, so I'm glad it gets to live on with a newly remastered port!

Also yeah, I wouldn't expect 60FPS for Dark Souls on Switch, though it would be nice. I'm also curious to know if they'll do Dark Souls 2, though I imagine they couldn't do 3 unless it was way scaled down (since that was on XB1 and PS4).

I mean, I'm just as likely to play my Xbox One (for Forza games) as my Switch, so between the two (I'm not counting PS4 because GT Sport sounds icky) it'll really be about whatever's cheap enough to justify the fact that I'll only play it once in a blue moon.

I didn't know you were into racing games, Venni! I like the occasional one, but I haven't even dug into my copy of Forza 6 yet, ha. This looks interesting, though, and the fact that it's on Switch is a plus; hopefully we'll be able to do a review of it sometime in the near future.

I wonder if we'll get any other kind of first party racing games for the Switch that aren't Mario Kart in the near future.

I doubt it, or at least I doubt that we'll ever get a first-party racing sim, unless Nintendo picks up a Western studio to produce it. Still, I imagine we could see a Need for Speed title on the Switch somewhere down the line. Maybe even Project Cars 2?

I'm there with Venom on the whole mentality of not caring about ports to the Switch. No, I want Switch exclusives that make the console worth buying, and I'm gonna be real, it's really bad that the only two HUGE main stay Nintendo titles we've gotten so far for it were 7 months apart. That's really terrible, way too much a gap.

You mean Zelda and Mario? I mean, I get that ARMS is a newer IP, but that, Splatoon 2, Mario + Rabbids, and Fire Emblem Warriors are no slouches in their own right. Honestly, compared to most consoles' first year, this is a pretty amazing year 1 first-party lineup.

Visceral was probably not a big enough studio to take on an Uncharted sized Star Wars game. Remove Hennig from the project if they thought she was taking the game in the wrong direction, bring in another studio to help, but why shut the studio down completely? It’s been long rumored that there has been strife between EA and Visceral, maybe this was EA’s way of killing two birds with one stone.

Yeah, honestly, I think the overall issue is just that EA didn't know how to properly manage Visceral, or at least communicate with them. So Visceral was trying to do one thing when EA was set on something else. I dunno, EA has a lot of issues.

The problem I have with this story is that EA had to have known what they were getting into with Hennig. If you want an Uncharted caliber Star Wars game, you don’t expect a small studio to deliver it cheaply or quickly. Personally, I do think Hennig is qualified to have a say in things like gameplay, I felt that one of the main problems with Uncharted 4 was that the gameplay wasn’t fun, and Project leads generally have their hands and say in every aspect of a game.

I wouldn't disagree with Hennig being qualified to have a say in gameplay, but the article does state that Bruce Straley took the lead on gameplay in the Uncharted games while Hennig was focused on story. From the people who spoke out for this story, it sounds as if she was taking the lead on both this time, and might not have been the best person to lead gameplay, either due to splitting her time and resources too thin, or because she simply wasn't the best person to lead gameplay (because there were others with more experience in that area).

I see it this way: usually you wouldn't have the director of a movie also do the soundtrack. There are rare cases where they have a background in both film and music, but generally someone who focuses solely on composing will get much better results, thus allowing the director to focus on what they do best. At the same time, a producer usually doesn't also direct big films (or if they do, there are multiple producers to help). This seems to be the case with Hennig, where she was taking on too much at once, and the project stalling b/c of it. Also sounds like Hennig was incredibly picky, which isn't bad, but either she was overly picky about things in a way that impeded progress, or Visceral just wasn't up to the task in general (for many reasons).

I really don't want them to port Smash WiiU to Switch because that's just time and resources they could be using to make a new game. They would have to really Mario Kart 8 Deluxe it up with several new characters and stages (not just combining stages from both versions either) to even make it worthwhile. I'm content to wait a few more years for something fresh.

Honestly, I'm not sure what I want. A new Smash game would be ideal, like you said, but I totally see them doing a "Definitive" version of Smash 4 which combines everything from 3DS/Wii U, while adding a few new characters, stages, and maybe even another new mode on top of that.

The strongest evidence there is for this is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and given that Smash 4 didn't sell colossal numbers like Brawl did, I could see them wanting to give it a second shot at life. That, and it'd be tough to make a new game with THAT many characters (unless they're straight up copies of their Smash 4 counterparts). We'll see, though! I expect we'll get another Direct in December or January that might tell us more.

Hm, this seems a bit oddly timed, in all honesty.

They actually put it pretty well on the Kinda Funny Games Daily podcast when they mentioned that a lot of it had to do with the fact that he's pretty much done all he's can for PlayStation and that they're in a really good place right now, so it makes sense for him to leave on a great note while also giving him room to pursue other challenges. I doubt there's any office politics or shenanigans beneath it.

I mean, it's always sad to hear something like that go, but honestly I think it just brings it back around to the question-- Why the heck doesn't the Switch have a Retro Library yet? Where's all the Virtual Console titles?!

That's the million dollar question, haha. Hopefully we'll get the answer in Spring 2018 (supposedly when the online service is supposed to start).

Every site is reporting on this but none of them say if these packs have any actual story content, so I'm just gonna assume they don't. Unless it turns out there are extra missions or something in any of these then I'm not gonna bother with them.

They don't, as far as I know. I'll update the post here about it but the press release only mentions characters, weapons, and other things (maybe outfits)?

That's a piss poor excuse for delaying a game. If anything they're watering it down by putting out on a crap game market like IOS first. I say that in the sense of, if they're making it for iOS first and porting it to something else later, it means that it would have been made with the limitations of iOS and up ported later, rather than being made for something big like PC, PS4, and XBONE and THEN ported to iOS.

I don't believe there are any official specs yet, but I want to say that I think it's being developed for either the iPhone X or generation before it, which can handle some pretty decent gaming specs. It certainly won't look as good as if it were being developed for PC or Xbox One X, but I don't see why they couldn't uprez the textures and whatnot later on.
