    Batman v Superman Trailer

I can't tell if this is sarcastic or not.

If there's one thing I wish we had more of in superhero movies, it's origin stories.

I finally finished Halo 4 the other day. Really, really enjoyed it. Feel pretty safe in saying I consider it the best Halo game yet, which is the sort of thing that causes the internet to eat you alive so if you don't hear from me again you'll know what happened. Anyway here are some more words about it if you care (it's OK, I didn't really care either): http://kritiqal.com/2015/04/15/halo-4-single-player-review/

    Batman v Superman Trailer

*in a conference room at Warner Bros.* "So let's go over this again to make sure we've covered everything: EPIC QUICK FADES! Check! GRITTY NARRATION! Check! ACTUAL DARKNESS! Check! INCEPTION HORNS! Check! "Well I think we've pretty much covered all the important bases. This formula has worked at least once in the past so I feel this is the proper direction with which to take all future properties. Good job everyone!" *everyone nods in agreement before moving on to growling Batman impressions*

I played a game called Caster between last night and this afternoon. Shouldn't have been as fun as it was. I bought it when it was .14 a few weeks ago and had more fun than I ought to have had. I wrote a few more thoughts about it as is my custom: http://kritiqal.com/2015/04/10/quick-thoughts-on-caster/

What anime are you watching/What manga are you reading?

I started Kids on the Slope today and it's been delightful. It's so full of life and free of anime nonsense, there's something really pure and authentic about it. Only 4 episodes in so I can't say much more other than it's one of the better shows I've watched in a long time. Also tons of fantastic jazz music, which is always a plus.

Change in the Winds: A New Managing Editor Arises

I swear it seems everyone is part of the staff now. Maybe I'm even part of it and just haven't realized yet. Conspiracies!

    Review A Great Game Day 2015 - April 8

I review games year round so I guess this isn't really for me. Will keep an eye on the site still, I hope to see some esoteric choices.

Obligatory - What are you playing right now!

I'm going through Hotline Miami finally. It's great, if disturbing and kind of falling apart the whole time.

I played through an odd game called Off-Peak. It's free on itch.io if you want to check it out. I wrote a thing about it. I'm still trying to process what exactly the game was. http://kritiqal.com/2015/03/06/off-peak-review/

Played through Steam & Metal the other day. It was definitely...a game. In more interesting news I also finished the second episode of Republique tonight, which is fantastic even if its stealth aspects are sort of just - there -. I reviewed both for those curious. http://kritiqal.com/2015/03/04/republique-remastered-review-in-progress/ http://kritiqal.com/2015/03/02/steam-metal-review/

Just started playing Republique Remastered and loving it while also being sad at a lot of things it doesn't quite nail (because the rest is so good).

Played through A Good Snowman Is Hard To Build last night and wrote a bit about it. Review might not be exactly the right word: http://steamcommunity.com/id/mrninjasquirrel/recommended/316610?snr=1_5_9__402
  14. Binding of Isaac probably. It just...really weirds me out (which is at least partially intentional, but still).

    The tea thread

I approve this thread, and all pro-tea conversation I'm sure will take place within it. I try to drink at least a cup of herbal/green/white/etc tea a day, preferably more. I'm fondest toward anything mint (it's just so soothing), though I've found I enjoy just about any kind provided it's not too bland (not huge on straight green tea).

I beat Ether One the other day. Really brilliant stuff, even if the puzzles made me want to rip my hair out in frustration.

I beat Garshasp The Monster Slayer. Someone hold me.

Obligatory - What are you playing right now!

Mostly playing Child of Light at the moment. Simultaneously really into it and kind of disappointed. Also playing Alpha Prime solely because a few of my friends decided we'd all play through it and see who beat it first. And then there's Squirreltopia which has squirrels. It kind of sucks, but still...squirrels.
  19. I can, sorta. I stream on Twitch fairly regularly and feel I can usually at least keep a commentary going, even if it's usually fairly mundane. Definitely something that needs to be worked on; the analogy to singing and playing an instrument is pretty spot on.

What Are Your Gaming Goals For 2015?

Buy less (possibly no) new games. I'm fairly shocked at what my Steam library has become over the last year so I'm really trying to make an effort to not double it over 2015 as I work on my ridiculous backlog.

I played through Among the Sleep this morning. For as obvious its problems are to me I still really enjoyed it. A change in perspective can apparently go a long way.

Game of the Year Watch 2014 - Other Sites

GamesRadar has always been odd (in my view anyway) with their GOTY lists. Also the year isn't over so it's weird they're already putting the list up, but I guess there's always been a "gotta be first" mentality with gaming sites.

Obligatory - What are you playing right now!

I've been playing through Splinter Cell: Blacklist. There are still some odd instances of mechanical dissonance that I'm annoyed Ubisoft won't stop awkwardly inserting into these games, but for the most part it's been everything I've ever loved about Splinter Cell rolled into one incredibly enjoyable experience. Hope the next one isn't too far off.

    How was 2014 for you?

My year has been cheerfully and distressingly stagnant. On the one hand, I've had very little to worry about this year, tons of time to play way more games than I should have (I've beaten 142 so far, aiming for 150 by year's end), spent a lot of time learning about music, expanded my guitar playing abilities, got into twitch streaming (which has been great fun), got into better shape than I've ever been in, and really expanded my writing (as well as its quality, though I've still got a long way to go). On the other hand this has been the year of self indulgence; of procrastinating on making important decisions, thinking about the future, or in general getting anything done. I've bummed around and neglected to put any real time or energy into planning exactly what the hell I'm going to do with my life, wasting days away staring at a computer without accomplishing much more than learning how to better express myself on the increasingly hostile and anonymous interwebs. Going forward into 2015, I'm not sure exactly how things are going to pan out. Hopefully I get all this crap in order, but for now it's beginning to dawn on me that I haven't much of a clue where to go from here, and that's frankly a little terrifying.
