  1. The PC download version of Assassin's Creed: Black Flag is currently free on Uplay until December 18! https://free.ubisoft.com/promotions/assassins-creed-black-flag/16/ Yeah, it's EwwPlay, but AC4 is one of the better games in the series (which may not be saying much, but anyway) and free stuff is free stuff.
  2. I was looking at my purchase history on Steam earlier and noticed that basically everything I've bought in the last several months has been discounted to some degree, which is no surprise - we all know Steam does constant deals, what with weeklong sales, daily deals, midweek, and weekenders. Then of course there's the numerous other sites that sell Steam keys, which of course have their own discounts and deals going on all the time too. And with so many games having launch discounts and going on sale regularly within months, you almost have to TRY to pay the MSRP for a Steam game. So with that in mind, I thought I'd ask - how often do you pay full price for Steam games? And I mean full full price, because even a paltry 10% off is still a discount. For me, it's almost never. As I said I was looking at my recent-ish purchase history, and the only ones I paid full price for were Tales of Zestiria and Mighty Switch Force! Hose it Down (which is like $3 anyway). Both of them were worth it I think (even if the Tales of Symphonia port I got for pre-ordering Zestiria was a disaster) though I still need to finish Zesty Tales, haha. Literally everything else I went through was discounted to some degree, even if it was just a little 10-20% launch discount. There have been several games I've jumped on at launch, but always found some way to get them cheaper, since it's really not that hard to find some kind of sale/coupon/whatever I can use on various sites. Anyway, how about you all? Remember any games you paid the full price for? Was it worth it, or did you regret it later?
  3. I watched Wonder Woman the other day. It was good...not amazing, but good. If nothing else it proves DC cinematic universe movies don't have to suck.
  4. I watched Justice League because I only allow myself to make terrible decisions. It was...definitely a movie. With people dressed as familiar characters. That much is for sure.
  5. I finally got around to watching Thor: Ragnarok. It's easily the most entertaining of the Thor movies, but...that's not really saying much. Honestly Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster stole the show and I hope we see more of him.

EA no longer offering Origin 'On the House' free games

"People seem to hate microtransactions, but they still buy our games. That can only mean one thing...people just love paying for the games themselves! We'll help them out by never offering anything for free ever again!" *raucous applause*
  7. is it December 7th yet?

It should definitely stay unknown since there's no reason to play it. It's short, the story makes no sense, and the gunplay is terrible.

I finished Cyberdimension Neptunia: 4 Goddesses Online and Past Cure. I ended up going for the Platinum in 4GO, which was probably a mistake seeing how many quests the game throws at you after the main story ends. Past Cure was so bland that I don't even know what else to say about it.
  10. I finally got around to watching The Princess Bride. It was pretty good, and funny, though I can see why people just quote the memes at this point since it's otherwise pretty forgettable.

    Happy Memorial Day Weekend

I had Monday off from work so I spent most of my 3-day weekend sleeping and playing games. Good times.

I've finished Fairune and Mirror's Edge Catalyst recently. Fairune was a neat little retro throwback but basically impossible to finish without a guide. Mirror's Edge was boring as hell but short enough to force myself to get it off the backlog at least.

I mean, it's definitely GOTY right now. It'll still be a contender later in the year but not sure it would win. Definitely won't be at the top of my personal list anyway with all the Nintendo stuff probably coming out. (or just Smash, really) Edit: On topic, I just beat Red Dead Revolver. It was...a thing. Definitely a thing. Edit 2: I also beat Bullet Witch. It was...also a thing.

    Nintendo Switch Online Service Info

I like how they're touting online play for the NES games when most of the initial batch doesn't even have simultaneous multiplayer. Obviously future stuff could be good for it though, particularly when (hopefully not "if") third party stuff starts getting added. Anyway, I'm fine with $20 a year for it even if there's nothing particularly exciting about it right now. It's a low enough "pay and forget" price point that I don't mind keeping it active even if I'm not going to play online much, much more so than PS+ or XBL Gold.

I finished God of War yesterday. Awesome stuff, 10/10, etc. etc you've already heard it all.

    Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze

I never finished this on WiiU (a combination of getting sidetracked by other games and being terrible at it) so I ended up preordering the Switch version to try and fix that. I might have to play it on super easy mode but I'll get through it one day, probably. Maybe.
  17. Since we've gone this long with no new info I bet we get a full reveal and release date at E3. I mean, I hope that's the case and they aren't just going to plunk it down without telling anyone about it.
  18. If I didn't already have both of these (not for Switch, but still) I'd probably jump on them, or at least Flinthook. I can't think of any other digital Switch games (that, again, I don't already have) that I'd want to get this treatment, but I'm sure something will come up sooner or later and I'll be happy to be able to hold it in my arms.

I uh, never finished 3. That should change when it gets re-released on PS4 next month. I never even played 2.

The last game I finished was Far Cry 5, which was...a thing. I enjoyed the game, but the ending was terrible.
  21. Nice. I've played most of these games in some form or another but since a lot of them aren't available on current consoles I'll definitely grab this. I honestly wouldn't mind if this didn't even include the popular stuff (KoF, Metal Slug, etc) and gave their more obscure stuff a chance to shine.

Runbow developer 13AM Games' next title is Double Cross

This looks fun. Not amazing, but worth checking out at the right price. (like $15 or less, hopefully)
  24. I'm honestly surprised we're not getting the 3DS version. I was half expecting that we'd ONLY get the 3DS version and only because Nintendo made it happen, like with the remakes of 7 and 8. Not that I'm complaining since I actually wanted it on console, so I'll be buying the PS4 version at launch for sure.
  25. I'm glad this was funded even though I wasn't super thrilled with the idea of running crowdfunding to port a game (even if it is an enhanced port). Not that I don't understand why they did it, but it still rubbed me the wrong way. Now I don't really have to care about that and I can just wait for the game to come out and see what I missed by not buying it on 3DS.
