Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R on Vita in April

Guilty Gear is one heck of a fighting game series with a serious case of "long name" syndrome. Guilty Gear XX initially came to PS2 and arcades in 2002 and spurred a long series of upgrades and tweaks from Arc System Works. Many iterations later, North American Vitas are set to get its first taste of the series. Arc System Works' official US Twitter account made the announcement in unorthodox fashion today. Instead of posting simple announcement text, they scrawled the information on the bottom of someone's shoe and photographed it. On the shoe were the words "GGXXACP+R for Vita 4/23/13." That of course means fighting game fans should mark April 23rd on their calendars for Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R on Vita! The game was a PS Store exclusive title in Japan and the same will be the case here.
  2. Arc System Works is a very well known developer in the fighting game community. Although they have created many games that aren't fighters, it is what they're best known for. The team is behind the expansive Guilty Gear series as well as BlazBlue and Persona 4 Arena. In regards to other games, their stylish visuals and fast play stand out. Dengeki Online got an interview with Toshimichi Mori who is BlazBlue's producer. This Japanese interview has since been translated and shared on fighting game site Shoryuken as follows: "We can“t give you a definite title yet, but we want to make one. We make fighting games, so we want to release a fighting game. We want to make a new title as a third axis along with BlazBlue and Guilty Gear. We actually made Guilty Gear targeting the Dreamcast, and we started creating BlazBlue around the time of the PS3 release, so we want to make a game for PS4 when the system releases. Creating new things at the turning point of time is who Arc System Works is, so we would like to take it on." It's certainly not confirmation, but pretty likely. With the past generation they provided Guilty Gear and with the current one we gained BlazBlue. What might be coming for the next generation of consoles? At the very least we can expect that any future fighting game series' will have the same visual flair and polish expected of Arc System Works.
  3. Are you in the mood for a good fighting game? If nothing out right now suits your tastes, then take a look at the upcoming release of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus for PS3 via PSN. Yes, the name is a bit of a mouthful, but that is because it's the last console revision of the original Guilty Gear XX. Instead of giving the game entirely new names, Arc System Works just added and changed the subtitles. Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus initially came out in 2009 for Americans and has since seen various ports to other systems. It has come to PSP, XBLA, and even Wii since then. A later, more upgraded version, even hit Japanese arcades a few months ago. Guilty Gear may never have become as popular in America as some other fighting games, but it certainly has a strong following. Takeshi Yamanaka of Arc System Works was the one who made the announcement of a PSN release via Twitter. Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus will reach PSN for the U.S. on December 4th, whereas it has already been available in Japan. The game will be priced at $15 and include online play.

Persona 4 Arena's 360 Version Suffers from Lag

Persona 4 Arena's Xbox 360 version seems to suffer from some lag, according to Persona's PR team. This is bad news bears for people hoping to punch their distant friends on 360. Persona's PR team does have some suggested short-term solutions, suggesting that players select "custom match," "same area," and "good connection" when going online in order to optimize their gameplay. Again, though, this is only the 360 version, so PlayStation 3 fighting game/Persona nerds, fear not, for you shall be mostly unaffected. Atlus supposedly is looking into a solution for this, so don't worry, everyone, a patch may make it home in time for Christmas. In the mean time, you can check out this recent trailer showcasing Elizabeth's sweet moves and how to do them. Persona 4 Arena releases on August 7th on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.
