  1. If you're okay with dealing with a foreign website format, then this one is for you. Whether its due to a glitch or just a real giveaway is unknown, but the Chinese Xbox service is currently giving away Assassin's Creed 3 for free. You just have to guide yourself through a few pages of Chinese to get it. Here's what you do. You make a new email account at hotmail using their new @live.com email ending. Then you go to the Xbox Chinese webpage and attempt to download Assassin's Creed 3. It will then take you to a page to fill out your information. Name, address, phone number, yadda yadda yadda. Those aren't important. When it gets to city and zipcode however, you need to put in Shanghai for your city and 100600 for your zipcode. And then hurray, you're done and can now download Assassin's Creed 3 to your Xbox. You can apparently play it in English after you download it as well, but I can't confirm that. I've included links to the store page and a translator below. Good luck. Credit goes to z7enZ at cheapassgamer for pointing this out. EDIT: It has been patched, so if you missed out on it then I guess there's always next time. Assassin's Creed 3 http://translate.google.com/
  2. Before I even start this article, let me get something straight here. I'm not saying Assassin's Creed 3 is a bad game. There's no way I could know that without actually playing it myself. At no point will I be criticizing the game itself. Instead, I'll be talking about Ubisoft; well, at least their pricing policies. You see, there have been plenty of Assassin's Creed games released over the years. Every single one has been hyped up and released to a lot of fanfare, and they've all sold relatively well. But there's a trend I've seen happening in each game released so far: their prices have tanked shortly after release. The History Of Price Drops I'm not entirely sure why it is, but the Assassin's Creed games have always shot down in price pretty much right after, or in some cases, before the game has released. We're not talking about the usual five dollars off you usually see on places like Amazon either. Assassin's Creed: Something witty about sales The best example for this article would be Assassin's Creed: Revelations. A $60 retail game just like all of the other releases in the series, Assassin's Creed: Revelations was sold for $40 on release date if you bought it in-store at some Walmarts. A whole $20 off the advertised price on day one. It actually happened for Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood as well, just not as quickly, I guess. The game was released in November of 2010 and sold for the advertised price of $60... for about a week. After the week was over, the game suddenly went on sale for $35. Nearly half off a week after release! Every Black Friday Ever Now, why might this be you ask? Quickly, tell me what happens in November! If you shouted Black Friday at your computer then I have some good news and some bad news. You're correct, but you're also a little bit crazy for shouting at a computer. People are staring! Despite being a brand spanking new release, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood still got drastic price cuts to keep in line with the Black Friday sales going on at the time. Of course the price only lasted about a week, but everyone who just decided to wait a few days got a huge discount on their game. Wouldn't you know it, those are average release prices! Now I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but Black Friday is fast approaching for those of us in North America. We only have about three weeks before old women are being trampled over for Tickle Me Elmo dolls and Walmart employees are getting elbowed hard in the face because what other chance will I have to elbow someone in the face and get away with it, right? The point is Assassin's Creed 3 will still be a brand new release at less than a month old, yet I know for a fact it will be going on sale during Black Friday or possibly even a few days before it. It has been the same way every single year. The Collector's Editions Seriously, just don't even bother with these. I've been tempted in the past to buy one or two of them (hey, that jack in the box one was pretty cool). But at over $100 each, there's one huge problem with them: they all tank in price too. I have so many of these statues around. Odds are one of them will kill me. Every year I see the same thing. Huge clearance shelves just filled with Assassin's Creed special editions. They might be cool, but they're overproduced and take up a lot of shelf space. So just hang back and wait for the prices to plummet as low as $15 for one. So if you really want to play it now, go ahead and buy it. Nobody is stopping you, and the good news is you'd be supporting the developer by buying it at full price. But if you want the absolute best deal, then you only have to hang back for a week or two. If you absolutely have to have the game now then I suggest getting it at Best Buy. They usually have some sort of 30 day policy to do price matches on games you've already bought. As always, thank you for reading.
  3. There are a lot of different Assassin's Creed 3 Special Editions floating around the country right now. So many choices can be a bit overwhelming for the average consumer, but I'm telling you right now that if you want to own the rarest Assassin's Creed collection then you need to shop at Best Buy. On midnight. And only if your store is lucky enough to even get the limited edition coins being given out at random midnight releases around America. On top of all of this, each store that lucks out will only be receiving 20 coins in total. There's not much known about the coin just yet other than how rare it is, a single picture posted by Best Buy and the fact that it isn't the medallion from the Join or Die edition. While it may seem like the odds are stacking against you more and more, there is one thing to help you get at chance of owning one of these coins on release night. The Best Buy website was kind enough to offer a store locator to aid you in finding your nearest participating store. You can find that locator below. Assassins Creed Coin Finder
  4. A new Assassin's Creed 3 demo video has come to light, shown off at E3 2012, but having only just made its way to the internet. Creative Director Alex Hutchinson narrates, Zissou-style, the sneaking and murdering that Connor does in this six minute demo video. Ubisoft, since the announcement of Assassin's Creed 3, has been trying to give us the feeling that it isn't just the previous games in a Colonial America backdrop. This Boston trailer shows us that it's more than a feeling, showing off the creative kills and thrills that young America has to offer. The trailer shows off situational kills, such as pushing guys off of ledges, the passthrough ability, where Connor can go through an open window and pass through a building to escape pursuers, and a myriad of other neat techniques and tools. But you don't have to take my word for it! Check out the demo below. Assassin's Creed 3 releases on October 30th on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the US, and October 31st in Europe. PC won't see it until November 23rd. Do you think this demo is smokin'? Does it give you peace of mind? Let us know in the comments!
  5. Assassin's Creed 3 a while ago had a bit of a leak of what to expect for co-op in the game. Well now there has been an official announcement to one of the modes known as Wolf Pack. It was also done so at an unlikely place- Comic-Con. It is not very often gaming related things come out of Comic-Con like that, generally developers like to do it at E3 and the like. Either way, the new mode boasts of 4 player co-op that will have you working together to get your target. As might be expected, you're working against the clock. There will also be 25 waves of targets that you have to eliminate. It sounds a little like horde mode made famous by Halo but it really isn't. In fact, it's closer to one of the modes in Mass Effect 3 that requires you to take out the target to move on. It remains to be seen how well Assassin's Creed 3 and in turn the Wolf Pack mode will do.
  6. The PlayStation Vita has been in desperate need of some games worth getting the system for. Ubisoft has answered those prayers during E3 by announcing Assassin's Creed III: Liberation -- a game that takes place in 18th century New Orleans and features a female African-French assassin. And despite all that, barely anybody has been hyped up about or discussing it! Maybe this new trailer Ubisoft has put out will get people talking. The game looks incredibly good and promising for the Vita. And with Aveline de Grandpréas the first playable female assassin in the series, it will be very refreshing. Assassin's Creed III: Liberation will release alongside Assassin's Creed III on October 30th of this year (Liberation will also be available in a crystal white Vita system bundle). The two games will also be able to link with each other. What are your thoughts on Liberation so far?
  7. When you think of the MMA, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? If you said "Revolutionary War" then I've got some good news and some bad news. Good news is you're right in this one instance. The bad news is you probably have zero knowledge of the war itself. While I'm sure Ubisoft has been trying to keep things historically accurate for the most part, a recent trailer for Assassin's Creed 3 shown during UFC 148 has revealed that our main character somehow knows how to use mixed martial arts. But this begs the question, at what point in the story will we see Connor being trained/inventing Muay Thai and Jiu-Jitsu? You can view the trailer below, unless of course it gets taken down. Then you won't be able to view it. http://youtu.be/DJ3Xv8f2TRo
