  1. Peter Dinklage's voice-over work as the Ghost in Destiny has been the source of much dismay among fans ever since they first heard samples of it, but it looks as if Bungie is now making that a thing of the past. Bungie recently revealed that not only had they had tapped popular voice actor Nolan North to record the Ghost's lines in the upcoming The Taken King expansion for the game, they actually had him re-record all of the original dialogue (Dinklage's lines) as well in order to create a consistent voice over the course of the whole experience. For his part, North doesn't seem to have any qualms about replacing Dinklage, mentioning that he's really excited for the role and hopes to evolve the character over time. You'll get to hear North as the Ghost when Destiny: The Taken King releases on September 15. Source: Game Informer Do you think it was harsh of Bungie to replace Peter Dinklage's lines with that of Nolan North?
  2. Batman: Arkham Knight has a rotten version, Bungie makes some silly decisions, a Fallout fan spends his bottle caps, and more, right here on The Weekly Podunk! This episode is for the week of June 21st - 27th, 2015.
  3. Going to steal a cue from NeoGAF here, but I thought the question was a really good one: has 2014 been a disappointing year for AAA titles? Of course, 2014 has been pretty good for indie games, niche titles, RPGs, and Nintendo titles (for the most part), but if you look back, there have been a number of big titles that ultimately ended up falling short (or WAY short in some cases), To quote the NeoGAF post again, here's what the OP came up with- Disappointing New IPs Watch_Dogs Destiny Buggy Messes Assassin's Creed Unity Halo MCC GTA Online Driveclub Meh Sequels: COD Advanced Warfare Infamous Second Son Huge Games Delayed Into 2015 (I added this bit) The Order 1886 Batman Arkham Knight Evolve Battlefield: Hardline The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Quantum Break Xenoblade Chronicles X Personally, I'd have to agree on some level that 2014 was a little bit of a let down in terms of releases overall, though again, there were some great releases in specific areas. What do you guys think?
  4. Today, Bungie announced that the companion application for their upcoming shooter Destiny was available on IOS and Android. The release comes just in time for the beta which starts on Playstation platforms tomorrow (July 17) and Xbox (July 23). The app is actually quite nifty. It allows players to see their character statistics, clan info and level data as well as gives them access to forums, messaging and news. The clan aspect in particular could be interesting for die hard Destiny players when the game officially releases. The app can be downloaded through the links below: IOS Android Do you feel that game companion apps add to the gaming experience?
  5. During Sony's E3 conference, Adam Boyes alluded to exclusive Destiny content coming to Playstation 3 and Playstation 4. Yesterday, Sid Shuman revealed on the Playstation Blog just what that content would consist of. In addition to the Alpha offered this past weekend and a few early days in the Beta, Bungie will be giving PS4 and PS3 owners exclusive access to a co-op Strike mission, a competitive multiplayer map, guns, armor and ships. The Co-op mission entitled, Dust Strike Palace, has three players fighting though an abandoned skyscraper on Mars against the Psion Flayers. The multiplayer map takes place aboard mid-sized ship called the Exodus Blue and is best suited for Control and Skirmish game modes. There will also be an exclusive assault rifle, handgun, armor set for each class and three ships. All of this content will be available when the game launches September 9. For further Destiny updates, stay tuned to Game Podunk. Source: Playstation Blog
  6. Sony has revealed a new Playstation 4 bundle coming September 9. The bundle includes the recently announced Glacier White PS4, a matching Dualshock 4, a copy of Bungie's upcoming space epic Destiny and a 30 day membership to Playstation Plus. The bundle will retail for $449 in the United States and €439 in Europe. During their E3 presentation Sony also announced that PS4 owners would have the opportunity to access Destiny's alpha starting Thursday, June 12. You can register for a chance to enter the alpha test here. Hurry though, registration ends today! For more info on other exclusive Destiny PS4 content keep it with Game Podunk. What do you think of PS4's slick new look?

  10. So the embargo lifted on Bungie's preview event for Destiny today. If you haven't read anything on it yet, most of the big name sites have coverage that went up earlier today; I mostly read through PA Report's preview of it, and thought it was somewhat interesting, but I do have to say it's pretty disappointing that Bungie didn't actually show anything. What do you guys think about the game so far? Are you excited for it? Not excited? Or are you just "meh" on it?

Bungie Says Destiny Will Be Revealed Soon

Over the years, Bungie has been known for bringing us the Halo series, which is perhaps the biggest exclusive franchise to ever hit the Xbox and Xbox 360. Some time ago, however, the company said goodbye and handed their son off to 343 Industries, who provided the critically-acclaimed Halo 4. What will Bungie be doing now, though? Well, you may remember hints and leaks regarding a game called Destiny somewhere (like maybe Halo 3: ODST), and now it seems the project will be getting a big reveal fairly soon. In the latest video from Bungie Community Theatre, host DeeJ reads a letter from a big fan of Halo named James. After reading the letter, DeeJ thanks the fan for his enthusiasm, but tells him that "we don't make Halo games anymore." He then goes on by giving a small but pretty big announcement, saying "Within a matter of weeks, we'll unveil what we've been creating for you. In the meantime, keep your eyes trained on www.bungie.net, so you don't miss a thing." It'll be nice to see what Bungie has for us, especially since we've been teased for so long without seeing or hearing much about it (though knowing that Paul McCartney is doing the music makes waiting easier). Here is the latest episode of Bungie Community Theatre, if you would like to watch the announcement for yourself: Are you excited for the official reveal of Bungie's Destiny?
  12. If you thought Bungie only started planning their newest, in-development title Destiny after they left Microsoft (after the completion of Halo: Reach), think again! According to Joystiq, an image has surfaced showing a poster in Halo 3: ODST that shows the Earth and a white, sphere-like moon object close by with the words "Destiny Awaits" shown above it. Coincidence? Take a look at the logo image for the game below and see for yourself. The early teaser theory is also backed up by former Bungie employee Vic Deleon, who tweeted that the secret had "finally been found." One has to wonder if Microsoft is miffed that a rival publishers's game (Activision, namely) has been revealed to be teased in one of their very own. Still, it's an interesting little easter egg nonetheless.
