  1. Nintendo already confirmed that Lucas, the Miiverse Stage, and Splatoon costumes for Mii Fighters were all coming as Downloadable Content for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS & Wii U on June 14th last week via Social Media. But today, they announced that Sakurai will be hosting a special Smash Bros-centric video presentation on that same day, at 7:40 AM PT, 10:40 ET. That“s...interesting. Will the broadcast offer more surprises beyond what we already know? I“m guessing yes. Methinks this broadcast is designed to take up a good twenty minutes or so that would have otherwise been reserved for the big Digital Event coming next Tuesday during E3 2015. What do you think will be announced? Will we see long-rumored stuff like Ryu and Roy come to light? And it begs the question: with the Nintendo Direct Micro and now this Smash Bros. Broadcast--will the Digital Event suffer from all this information already happening, or will we see more new content from Nintendo than ever? Be sure to let us know how you feel below!
  2. Nintendo has put out a new 3DS firmware update today and as previously noted from the last Nintendo Direct, it has to do with NNID and Miiverse integration. First off, users can now create an Nintendo Network ID (NNID) for use on their 3DS; this can either be a new account or the same one as you use on your Wii U. If you do the latter, it'll combine your eShop balances and wishlists into one. It should also be noted that an NNID is required to download free content, such as demos, from the eShop. Secondly, Miiverse support has been added, and there is even an offline mode available now (for those without Internet) which lets you queue up to three posts to add whenever a WiFi connection is established. You'll also be able to upload screenshots from either the top or bottom screen in your Miiverse posts. Finally, an adjustment has been made to the account transferring system on 3DS where you'll now be able to transfer all content to different 3DS systems an unlimited number of times, once every seven days. Previously you were only able to do so for a total of five times. Are you glad the 3DS is getting some new functionality and adjustments?

    Nintendo Miiverse Available Via Web

It's the moment we've all been waiting for... the Miiverse is now accessible through web browsers! Okay, this might not be the most exciting Nintendo news but it is a feature which had been promised and has finally come to fruition. Nintendo's Miiverse is a Twitter-like site where users can talk about games in various "communities" and even post game screenshots and drawings. Most of these features are not going to be accessible to web users, but they will at least be able to check the Miiverse out. As this is the beta, it makes sense that a great deal of functionality is missing, but it's a shame that you can't even post a new message as of yet. You're also required to have a Nintendo Network ID to browse. This is a separate account from Club Nintendo and is one that users set up when using the Wii U for the first time. Miiverse is also poised to come to 3DS this year, but not just yet.

    Shigeru Miyamoto Now On Miiverse

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/03/28/its-on-like-donkey-kong-miyamoto-joins-miiverse For all you Wii U owners out there, it looks like Shigeru Miyamoto's Mii is finally out there on Miiverse, so definitely give him a follow (though I don't know how often he'll have new things to say). Hopefully more developers and such will make their own Miis and such since it's cool to see them interact with the community and such. Does anyone here use Miiverse much? I don't typically, but it is cool to poke in once in a while and see what people are saying and such.
  5. One of the most unexpectedly cool features of the Wii U is Miiverse. The Twitter-like social networking service is built into the design of the system which means that each game has its own community chatting away within it. Drawings, screenshots, and more routinely are posted as Wii U users chat about what they're playing. In a Nikkei interview, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata spoke about the two systems. The interview, which has been translated partially by Siliconera, also explained the importance of Miiverse to Nintendo and that its functionality would be coming to 3DS. Interestingly, Iwata notes that the Miiverse idea was initially panned since the likes of Twitter and Facebook already exist. Seeing how many people have since started using Miiverse though they know it is a success. Why did they push Miiverse forward despite concerns?: “Miyamoto loves making games that allow players to create and share experiences. We believe that it“s one of the main reasons behind the Mario series and Animal Crossing“s success. It was having those thoughts and feelings which eventually led to the creation of the Miiverse. Rather than social networking, we consider it an ”experience sharing network“.” The full expectation of Miiverse is to see it come not only to 3DS, but also smartphones and PCs. For now though, Iwata seems focused on the 3DS as its first target: “Once the Miiverse hits the 3DS, it will be huge. Just imagine the possibilities of playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf while sharing your experiences on the Miiverse. Now that“s something!” Animal Crossing: New Leaf has been out in Japan for a little while now but has yet to reach American shores. If Miiverse comes to 3DS in conjunction with the release, it definitely will be a big deal. That fanbase is already humongous and would easily create yet another bustling Miiverse community.
