Just when I was thinking this week was going to be another terrible "oh look, another Batman sale like every month" week, PSN launched a 2 for 1 sale to tie in with the Play Collective promotion going on. From now until April 11, you can choose from a handful of games that are buy one, get one free! The games aren't on discount or anything, but they're all $19.99 MSRP so you're basically getting $40 worth of games for $20. Not a bad deal if you see anything you like. https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-us/2-for-1/cid=STORE-MSF77008-PLAYCOLLMULTIBUY Some notable titles include Firewatch, 100ft Robot Golf, Amplitude, and others. Check it out if you're looking to snag a couple of indies for less. Also, as part of the Play Collective, PSN has 20% off of several pre-orders, including Cosmic Star Heroine, Parappa the Rapper, and Full Throttle Remastered: https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-us/weekly-releases/cid=STORE-MSF77008-PLAYCOLLNEWG I know I'm pre-purchasing Cosmic Star Heroine for sure. Anyone see anything of interest in the sale or pre-orders?

This month's flash sale is live, and unlike most of the recent ones it doesn't have a particular focus on genre or style or anything. Just a selection of various games for under $10. https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-us/flash-sale/cid=STORE-MSF77008-FLASHSALEWEBLP Check it out and see if anything stands out! For me, I'll probably buy Catlateral Damage since it hasn't been more than 50% off on Steam and it's been out there longer than PS4, so this might be as cheap as it gets for a while. I might also buy The Last Blade 2 or something just to push my total over the $5 minimum. Also, Sony is doing a PSN promo this month where if you spend over $100 before the end of the month you get $15 credit back, so if you're spending a lot this month anyway this might help give you a push.

Another month, another flash sale! https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-us/flash-sale/cid=STORE-MSF77008-FLASHSALEWEBLP Not really a ton of notable stuff, but there might be a few things worth checking out. The Final Fantasy PSOne Classics are cheaper than usual (70% off as opposed to the usual 50%) and the PS4 ports of Prototype 1 and 2 are the price they should have been at launch. Take a look at the list and let us know if you see anything you can't live without! I ended up buying Dark Cloud 2 and Chronicles of Teddy. I really wish Dark Cloud was in the sale since I've been wanting to replay it, maybe next month it'll pop up. I'd have probably gotten Final Fantasy Tactics if it was the PSP version, but oh well. I'm still somewhat tempted to get Wild Arms 3 so I may end up going back. I'm also tempted to get the GOTY version of Dragon Age: Inquisition, but I really don't want to have to download it. :\

[update] According to Kotaku, the hacker group "Lizard Squad" has now made bomb threats to John Smedley's airplane. Smedley is the President of Sony Online Entertainment and tweeted earlier that his flight was being diverted to Phoenix for security reasons. The FBI is currently investigating the American Airlines flight in question. [Original Story] The Playstation Network has been taken offline due to a DDoS attack perpetrated by the hacker group "Lizard Squad." Other companies like Blizzard and Riot Games have been affected by the attack as well. Sid Shuman of the Playstation Blog assured fans in a blog post saying that despite the interruption of service, "no personal information has been accessed." This of course in response to concerns that the siege was similar to the PSN attack of 2011 where personal information of users was obtained by hackers. The PSN was scheduled for maintenance downtime tomorrow, August 25 and it is unclear if that will continue as planned or if it will be postponed. Stay tuned to Game Podunk for further updates. Sony Unveils New Playstation Network Promotion for October
John Kidman posted a article in Industry News
October is shaping up to be a rather large month for the Playstation Network, offering tantalizing deals with Playstation Plus and launch day availability for several major third-party titles. Sony's Blog announced that purchasing $100 worth of content on the Playstation Network in October will net the buyer a $20 voucher in the month of November. The voucher will be sent via official e-mail tied to the account and XMB message. This promotion will run store-wide which can include the purchase of NFL Sunday Ticket, Playstation Plus Subscriptions, Playstation Home, Movies and Day 1 Digital releases. Gamers who may have already pre-ordered Day 1 Digital titles need not worry because the Blog specifically mentions that those purchases will also count for this promotion. All purchases must be made directly through the store, which means purchasing vouchers for subscriptions or digital titles will not qualify for the promotion as it stands. The promotion also lacks any sort of tracking, but visiting transaction history on Sony's official website will allow gamers to add up just how much they have spent over the course of the month. Will this promotion entice you jump into Playstation Plus and launch day digital releases or is this threshold set too high?
