Two New GBA Games Arrive on Wii U eShop Today

Last week was the long awaited launch of GBA virtual console games appearing on the Wii U eShop, and this week continues with the release of two more GBA titles: Kirby & The Amazing Mirror and WarioWare Inc.: Mega Microgame$. Both titles were actually released on 3DS as 3DS Ambassador rewards back in 2011, so it looks as if Nintendo is releasing those games first before moving on to others. With these two new titles, that brings the current count of GBA VC titles on Wii U to 5, along with the likes of Metroid Fusion, Advance Wars, and Mario & Luigi: SuperStar Saga, which arrived last week. Nintendo has also announced that Super Mario Bros. 3 will be arriving on both Wii U and 3DS eShops next week. As for other eShop releases, see the list below. 3DS eShop LEGO The Hobbit Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars (releases April 15) Mach Rider (NES VC) Atlantic Quest Governor of Poker Boxzle Wii U eShop My Exotic Farm Sales Ducktales Remastered - 50% off until April 17 Will you be buying anything on the 3DS or Wii U eShop this week?
  9. It's finally happening. After stating that they intended to bring GBA Virtual Console games to the Wii U several years back, Nintendo is finally making good on their promise as mentioned in today's Nintendo Direct. You can expect to download and play GBA VC titles in April, and the good news is Nintendo has confirmed that Metroid Fusion, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, and Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3 are among the first to debut with the GBA Virtual Console's launch. Unfortunately, this is only for the Wii U; Nintendo has made no mention of their intention to bring GBA games to 3DS in the near future, though it's possible that could change later on. But for now, we at least know that it's coming for sure. Source: /Press Release Are you excited for GBA VC titles on the Wii U?
  10. With the wonderful news that Earthbound will finally be making its way onto Nintendo's Virtual Console, there seems to be some newfound hope that Nintendo actually cares about the Mother series and is listening to fans' pleas. So much, that Clyde Mandelin is offering his team's Mother 3 fan translation to Nintendo in an effort to get the game published here. Mandelin is completely aware of the staggering costs that come out of translating games, especially one of the size of Mother 3. He also says he'll edit whatever is necessary; even retranslate everything from scratch. And the best part? He's offering all of this for free. "Just whatever it takes to get an official release out," Mandelin explains. Companies have used fan translations in official releases before. An example that Mandelin gives is Ys: The Oath in Felghana. Who knows if Nintendo is the kind of company to accept this offer, though?
  11. On top of all the great Wii U game announcements we got from this morning's Nintendo Direct, we also got news on the Virtual Console service coming to the Wii U. The Wii U's Virtual Console will include some new features. Two of the bigger ones are the ability to play Virtual Console games on your Wii U GamePad without the need of a TV and being able to fully customize controls. Miiverse will also be implemented for Virtual Console titles. What about the majority of us who have already purchased Virtual Console games on our old Wiis? Well, you will be able to transfer those to get playable Wii U versions. However, it comes at a price: $1 for NES games and $1.50 for SNES games. And to celebrate the Famicom's 30th anniversary, a "trial campaign" will be starting this month for Virtual Console titles. That means one Virtual Console title will be available each month for 30 days at $0.30! Here's the schedule: January: Balloon Fight February: F-Zero March: Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream April: Kirby's Adventure May: Super Metroid June: Yoshi July: Donkey Kong The Wii U Virtual Console service will be coming sometime this spring. You can watch the full Nintendo Direct conference from this morning on Nintendo's website.
