So now we will absolutely never see another FFVII remake?
Probably not. If they didn't do one for the ps3 when the ps3 first came out to help sales, I don't see them doing it. Unless Sony had a grand plan of waiting until this Engine came out and wow us all with the ps4 to go from red to green.
I always was hoping for an FF7 remake on the ps3 just to see it in HD. It would be such a beautiful game. Not to mention it could allow people that didn't grow up in the ps1 era to play this game.

FF7 remake would be an instant hit, but I don't think it will ever happen.
Funny thing about it is that they know it would be a hit and it would help ps sales so much. Yet they never made one. I remember seeing that tech demo for the ps3 when they showed Midgar and Aries. I really thought we would be getting FF7 HD. Boy was I disappointed.

They're definitely saving it for when they need something big to fall back on.
I think they need to use it. They aren't exactly doing super hot right now. Plus, People will buy it every generation if they make it for every new playstation that is released.

A Final Fantasy VII Remake would take a long time to create. There was an article I read last year or the year before that in order to develop the game, they need lots of years because first of all graphics is the big one since they have to take the original game and recreate everything. Second, in the remake, the story might have some tweaks or something since they could add a little flashback from Crisis Core or prequel games. The story will not change anything, but maybe add some tweaks. Third, well of course they will have voice acting. Finally the gameplay and battle system. They would have to stay away from the linear perspective from FF13/13-2. Going back to the old school Final Fantasy gameplay would be amazing and of course lots of work. I'm sure this idea is in Square's plans, but don't think it's big. I personally would love to see a remake, but the original is fine for what it is. It's a special game since this was the first Final Fantasy game I've ever played and it was on PC. I found a PC version at Costco when I was younger and fell in love with RPG games.
All I'm saying is it will be worth it for them to go through all that trouble. And even having to think of trophy and achievements. Because in the end, they will make money from it.

We've seen Square Enix tease us with an updated opening of FFVII, so it's entirely within their power. They're doing this for FFX, so I don't see what's stopping them from giving the same treatment for their most bankable Final Fantasy title.

Well said. The game itself is great already, no need to change it. Heck just port all the FF games to HD.
