I'm not an Apple fan but this sounds pretty impressive. It has the retina display like the iPad with a resolution of 2880 x 1800 pixels. It's very thin and has no optical drive. It runs on OS X 10.8, Mountain Lion. Apparently Blizzard is going to update Diablo 3 to take advantage of the high res display.

But...but...you can already run Diablo 3 at that resolution....on a PC.

There aren't even any consumer monitors that support that resolution, they usually run up to 2560 x1600/1440, let alone laptops. They just said that Blizzard is going to optimize the game for the retina display and that it would be the best looking version of the game.

Those are some nice updates. I do want to get that new macbook pro then. But I hate how they overprice all their products.

One question I do have is that, what is a flash internal memory? They say it'll have 756gb internal flash memory. Is that the same as 756gb on a pc or on the previous mac book?

Internal flash memory should mean that it's a 756GB Solid State Drive. It's like a hard drive, only faster.

It's sort of weird that they're phasing out the 17" screen while integrating the Retina display, but that's Apple for ya.

Exactly, ssds are basically just big flash drives, they have no moving parts. Maybe the Retina display would cost too much to produce at that size, I'm not totally sure on that. The Macbook Pro is finally almost worth its high price tag imo.

This actually looks pretty impressive. I got my macbook pro about 5 months ago. I don't regret getting it but this version looks like it would have been worth the wait to many people ^^

Moved Shin's video over to this topic. Nice video. Could do without the flowery language, but Apple's gone too far down that path to try and be down to earth anymore. Neat seeing a bit of the innards, though.

Oh okay. I always thought it mean that the storage wasn't as big as a normal harddrive.

Really interested in this new macbook pro. Will it be priced the same as the current macbook pro? I think they said the price will stay the same but not sure if that includes the new mac book pro with the retina display and big harddrive.

While I am not a big fan of apple products because I think they over price everything and the general public still think they are amazing. Plus, they always try to make us PC user look dumb. While PC really are more for enginneer and the apple product are made to be simple and easy to use for your average user (no offense to anyone). I got a macbook and I love it but I wish it wasn't as pricey since what it does for me doesn't warrant a price that high. But I'm a sucker for cool new gadgets so I definitely am considering getting this. Probably not a day 1 thing but down the line yes.

Price is the same as the high end 15 inch macbook pro. The retina display one goes begins at 2199 I think.
The selling point of the retina display screen is that the resolution is high on a small monitor, making it closer to what
the human eye actually sees. So I would say that the technology is actually impressive ^^

I really do love how they're pushing Diablo 3 being Retina compatible, though. From what I hear, the framerate performance at that resolution isn't exactly stellar, what with it being run on a laptop.

It's also sort of weird to advertise the game so heavily on a device that doesn't have an ethernet port.

I like the retina display, but it's still a little small for my taste. I might get one in a few years when they offer bigger screens.

Yeah, I guess I'm just biased. I've never really liked Apples way of doing things. Their products are usually decent, if over priced. I think the main reason I'm always such a negative nancy when it comes to Apple Products is because of how people around me are always gushing over them.

Anyyyways...I'll try to give a non-biased opinion ;)

It looks like a pretty solid build for a laptop, even if it is missing a few features. The high resolution is good, since computers are always driving at higher resolutions. The specs are decent as well, it seems like it could run most games nowadays at high settings. The i7 CPU is pretty good, though I'd probably OC it since its only 2.7GHz. The GPU seems a bit lacking, though thats usually the case in Apple devices, but its still pretty capable. Up to 16gb of RAM seems good too, though it doesn't say I'd assume its DDR3? If I had this laptop I'd probably dual boot with Windows 7/8 at the very least, just to ensure maximum compatibility with anything I'd want to run. It doesn't say a price but I'm sure it'll only cost you an arm and a leg.

I agree with you completely, I could buy a laptop from Newegg with better specs for half the cost. The retina display is the only thing that might make it worth the price for the high disposable income crowd.

ifixit did a teardown of the new MacBook Pro, and what they found is pretty stupid. It uses a nonstandard SSD connector, soldered RAM, and a fused display unit. So you'd better get as much RAM as possible and AppleCare when you get it, because if it breaks or you want to upgrade it, you are legitimately screwed.

Well that goes for every apple product though. If you break it you have to bring it to them to get it fix. Which cost a lot too. Or you throw it out and buy another product. I really want this but it isn't worth it. I don't want to give apple my arm and my leg. I kinda need my arm and leg.

This one is worse than others, though. You could always replace the HDD or upgrade RAM in the past, and you could, to an extent, mess with the screen if a connection got loose. With the new one, though, you are completely at the mercy of Apple's ridiculous prices.

Considering the people who buy these, upgrading just means buying the newest model anyway so...

Another reason to be extremely cautious with Apple products, they don't like you messing around with their hardware, so don't even THINK about opening Macbook yourself, let good ol' Apple take care of that for you....then charge you half the original cost ;)

Yup, I got my macbook and my sister friend installed bigger ram for me. Of course it breaks and I had to bring it into Apple to get it fixed. They couldn't fix it and I had to get them to install me a new HD and also ask the "genius" guy to pull out my data. I was at their mercy. I had to get it fixed. I needed all that data because it was my entire P1 school year. I needed my school notes. I ended up paying like $100 something for them fixing it and putting in a new Harddrive.
