According to the Media Create sales charts on Neogaf, Persona 4 Golden on Vita sold 137,076 copies last week! The game gave the PS Vita a 157% boost up to 34,459 units sold. Obviously, this is great news for the Vita which has struggled in Japan. We will see if Japanese adoption starts to pick up now that the Vita has a number of strong Japanese titles like Hot Shots, Dynasty Warriors, Persona etc.

What do you guys think? Will the Japanese start to give in or continue to hold out?

I personally think the Vita will do consistently well in Japan soon enough, even if it has been struggling to find solid footing right now. Of course, I can't make any bold guesses to back it up like "Soul Sacrifice will be the next Monster Hunter for Japan!!! No doubt! You heard it here 1st!" (which I really doubt anyway) and will only say it is just a feeling that Japanese devs will take more of an interest in the hardware and the consumers there will follow.

I won't hold my breath for overseas in the slightest due to all kinds of reasons, from cultural stuff or preferences towards certain types of games (not even sure a Call of Duty can push the system that much at this point)... or the need for golden vitas apparently, but who knows.

I'm really surprised it didn't do so well in Japan at first. I really thought it would have been a big hit like other Sony products. Plus, Japanese like their handhelds. I'm glad this game helped the vita sales. Maybe with a couple more games like that will be able to turn the Vita into a staple there and in America.

I just don't think ports and enhanced versions of old games cuts it. When your best games on a system are all ports, you are in trouble. I think the Vita in the end will do even worse than the PSP.

How successful was the psp? I thought it was really successful right? As of now, I think nothing is indicating that the Vita could be better than the psp.

The PSP was successful but only sold a half as much as the DS. It is entirely possible for the Vita to end up selling half as many units as the 3DS although both units will probably sell less than their predecessors. Until the Vita has a more widely accepted pricing structure, it will be difficult to predict long term sales however.

I remember that when the psp got the price drop that it helped the sales a lot. The Vita probably won't be anywhere near the DS sales but hopefully it'll do better. I think of it as an upgrade from a psp. I'm surprised not more people bought it. Maybe it really is the lack of advertisement before the Vita came out. I don't know how Nintendo did it with the DS, maybe because of so many different iterations of it to help bring in more people or that all the little kids help the sales by getting their parents to buy them one.

The DS was successful due to affordable prices, a wide range of games and great marketing. I don't think Sony markets their products well at all.

DS, DS Lite, DSI, DSI XL, 3DS, 3DS XL. Lol. It's frustrating because you feel like an ass whenever a new version comes out. I've had 3 of the above but I'm sticking with the regular 3DS. I haven't had it long enough to justify another upgrade.

I don't have any and I really should get one because at this point, why not? I should have gotten one from lockerz when I had the points and not saved it and got screwed by lockerz. Oh well.

Oh, they're awful. The Vita commericals were so misleading and vague. They also failed to highlight Uncharted which was the biggest system seller at launch.

Instead they highlight mlb and that other game I can't even remember. What a terrible commercial. Walk around not even looking at where you are going with cars everywhere? Then you have a sixth sense of something is going on? Man that was terrible.
