If you don't know what Dredd means, I'd suggest you leave this thread. Otherwise, check out this gob-smackingly awesome trailer for the upcoming Judge Dredd film revival. It has some high talent writing and directing, though legal disputes have me a little concerned. Regardless, it has to be better than the Stallone movie right?

The godawful original movie [WARNING: INTENSE SUCKAGE]:

Are you excited for this new Dredd film? Why or why not?

For some reason, I actually like the Stallone version (in a cheesy way), but yeah, I just saw the trailer for the new Dredd the other day. Not too shabby at all! Karl Urban looks like he'll make a great Judge Dredd.

I....derive enjoyment from taunting the film, but it was amusing in that horrid sort of way! I hope the Karl Urban version can do the franchise justice, though it seems to lack the satire of the comics.

The trailer looked like The Raid with Judge Dredd shoved in, and I doubt it will be as fun to watch. Karl Urban looks like he is doing his best Dirty Harry impression in the trailer. I haven't read the comics, so I can't really tell if he is more true to the character than Stallone was.

Oh, I'm quite certain it will suck. But I've waited so long for a 2000AD movie that I really don't care if it reeks worse than beer breath. It'll be an epic, epic movie.

Wow Judge Dredd, I kept reading and realized you meant Judge Dredd. It's been so long since I heard of that name.

You might be right Harrison, Dredd has been getting some great early reviews.

How are the reviews?

Honestly the more I think about it, I think it'll turn out bad. I don't really know why. Just look like a lot of good action but not as good as one would think.

Everyone is saying it's an ultraviolent, gritty, fun film. It lacks the satire of the comics but has just enough action and explosions to keep you coming back for more. Apparently, Karl Urban also makes a fantastic Judge.

Oh okay. I wouldn't mind seeing it but I doubt I'll be like "let's go see this movie or you must go check it out." I am somewhat bias though, I never though Judge Dredd was cool when I was younger.

The reviews I've been reading have been surprisingly positive. At first I was nervous if this could fail, but after hearing a lot of people and reviews, this should live up to the hype. Actually I haven't looked much into the film and it seems to be under wraps just not to be overhyped. Karl Urban is a great actor and does look like a great judge. I wonder if he will say I am the Law in the movie.

I don't know anything at all about the character, and fortunately I never saw the Stallone version, but seeing the trailer for this made me at least a little interested in it. I doubt I'll see it in theaters unless I get really bored one day, but I'll at least watch it when it comes to DVD if nothing else.

I'd be interested in renting it for sure. I only go to 3-4 movies per year, so I am real selective with that. I already know I'm going to be watching the Hobbit and Star Wars next year in theaters, so that doesn't leave me much room for other things.

I almost never see movies in theaters. I saw one movie in 2008, one in 2011, and I've seen a whopping two in theaters this year. It's kinda funny that the only movie I REALLY wanted to see in theaters this year was the Avengers, but it wasn't even one of the two I saw. :\

Avengers was great and you need to watch it.

I actually saw this movie trailer on TV yesterday I think. It actually looked better on TV since I wasn't expecting to see the trailer at all.

I'm the same way. I'm not too big on the theater experience anymore. Usually the audience will ruin it somehow, plus I don't want to have to take out a loan just to get a large popcorn and drink.
