The first trailer for Oz: The Great and Powerful was released today! Check it out below!
What do you guys think? Some people on Youtube are saying it looks a little like the recent Alice in Wonderland by Tim Burton, but I think it looks pretty cool. Hopefully it does the Oz series justice!

I'm not really sure what to think. Is he the antagonist of the original story? Is he some weird guy that just shows up?.....Is he seriously high? I thought most of the Oz world was an illusion. Guess not!
At the end of the original film, it leads you to believe it's a dream, but in the books it is supposed to be real (albeit fictional) place. If you've ever seen the original movie, you'd know the Wizard (or the magician who ends up becoming the "wizard") is a good guy. The events in this movie serve as a precursor to show how he got to Oz and how he became the ruler of Oz pretty much.

Yea I don't know anything about Oz since I never saw The Wizard of Oz. But from the trailer and look like Jason post, Oz is a good guy and is a guy they been waiting for to defeat some evil force in that movie. I hope it turns out to be good. The original being so good and so old that you can't make this movie now and mess it up, it would be really bad.

I think whoever sat down and said "you know, didn't you ever wonder where, like, The Wizard was FROM, man? Like, how he got to be all powerful and like, do wizard stuff? Someone should make a movie about that, dude" was probably seriously high.
I just now saw the trailer today when I went to see a movie, and I just...don't think anything like this should have ever come to be. The Wizard of Oz is a classic, and everything about it should have been left just like it was. But of course Hollywood can't have that, now can they?

Looks like this might end up being good. I love the Wizard of Oz and read all the books as a kid.
