A recent posting on the official Dead Space 3 website has revealed one of the new enemies you'll be facing in some of the darkest corners of Tau Volantis, known simply as the feeders. From what the description says, the feeders will be blinded horrors that rely on sound to find and eat you.

While that certainly sounds creepy enough as it is, the reveal makes sure to mention they aren't just sensitive to sound, they're extremely sensitive to sound. To the point that just alerting one of them means you've most likely alerted all of them. But you can also use these new monsters to your advantage.

By throwing cans or flashing your light in certain areas, you can supposedly get the feeders to clear a room out for you or even cause a distraction for other enemies as you sneak on by to finish your objective. But you might think twice about filling a room with these when you see just what they look like below.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think they really look that scarier than what you'd usually see in the series. It just seems like a bland design.

I personally just hate monsters that give you a chance to sneak by them. Like the librarians in Metro 2033. As long as you didn't break eye contact with them you would be okay, but the moment you looked away it was go time.

I like them in a co-op setting, because sometimes it's fun to just set them off >_>

Funny, this is what some Dead Space fans looked like when EA said the last two games were "too scary."

Sadly, I don't think this baddie is enough to save DS3. I really wanted it to shift towards DS1 but it sounds like it's moving in the opposite direction.
