Guillermo Del Toro's Insane Cancelled by THQ

To be fair, the game was never even marked as starting production. All we ever really knew was the name and that del Toro was a part of the project. At least the fact that it was in pre-production spared developer Voilition from having wasted too much time with it.
THQ president Jason Rubin said this about the game's cancellation, as well as their pulling back on creating casual games:
“We have decided not to pursue further pre-production on Insane, and have returned all of our IP rights to Guillermo del Toro. By cancelling these explorations outside of our core business, we feel we can improve focus on our core game portfolio, which remains unchanged.”
It's a simple statement but it says a lot about where THQ is right now. They previously had cancelled the "Enter the Dominatrix" DLC for Saints Row 3 in order to bring it and their focus onto the next full game. They also gave up control of their UFC license. Either way, now the rights for inSane have returned to del Toro. Perhaps we'll see another company pick it up...

Nope. They're going through company restructuring and are focusing in games with a guarantee return.Nobody really knows anything about the game besides THQ, it could have been having development troubles or just have been terrible, hence why they never showed anything after the announcement. I honestly doubt that Del Toro really had much to do with the game at all, probably just helped with the concept and then slapped his name on it for a little cash. I'm not a big fan of his myself, but he was the reason a lot of people were excited for the game.

Yeah, doesn't change the fact that the game probably would have sucked. We'll see if it gets picked up or not, I'm guessing it won't.
