So the PS Vita is finally out this week on the 22nd. Marcus already made a thread asking if you're planning to get one, but how does everyone think it will perform sales-wise, at least initially?

It has one of the better launch line-ups any console has seen over the years, yet if there's one big obstacle in its way, I think it's that the memory card prices might cripple the sales a little bit. But there's always a chance that people won't care and will pay those high prices for the cards anyway.

What do you think? Do you think the PS Vita will perform really well initially, or will it be a slow burn? And what would you most like to see Sony do to sweeten the deal (more bundles including games? lower memory card prices? lower game prices?) for customers?

What would be the one thing that would make you buy a Vita if you're not already planning to get one on day one?

Lower the memory card prices would be the one thing. I'm planning on getting a wifi model when I can afford it, and that'll mean well over $300 for the console, the memory card, and a game.

I'd buy it, without hesitation, day one if they put Tales of Vesperia's PS3 version on it, though.

If you could play a game on your PS3, and then go somewhere out and about and play that same game at your save spot on your Vita, now that would be awesome. THAT would make me buy one.

I think that's actually in the works, Bink.

I don't know if Sony has officially confirmed it, but I remember them talking about that at last year's E3. Tyler would probably know a lot more about that.

I do believe you can play your PS3 games on the Vita. I know I've seen a commercial that highlighted that feature. Not sure about if you can save on the Vita and it show up on the PS3 though.

Honestly, I think it will have a very strong launch. Considering the lack of negative views for it, I believe it will do better than what forecasters had planned. Prices for the games doesn't bother me much but I do agree that the prices for the memory cards should be lower. I don't want to spend more on a good size memory card than I would for any of the games I want to play.

A bundle deal for the Wi-Fi version similar to the 3G one. And a better choice of game to go with it.

I think it'll do just as good as PSP. Did great, but couldn't beat the competition. As for me, i'll get one when the price drops a bit, it's over 450 in Mexico and no way i'll pay that for a handheld.

Games like Warrior's Lair and Dust 514 have that feature confirmed. You will be able to play the game on your Vita, save to the cloud and then play it on your PS3 when you get home. It will be in most Vita/PS3 games eventually.

There are a few cross compatable games like UMvC3 at launch.

I do not think the Vita will be an "explosive" display that people are trying to portray. I think it will be a moderate seller at best. The cost of entry is just too high, most people don't want to shell out more for a handheld than a home console. At best it will be a slow burn as people get their tax return money, but even that is a bit unlikely.

I honestly think game bundles are not the right way to go for this system. Bundle it with bigger memory card if anything, but people are more hesitant to buy a system with games that dont interest them at an increased price.

The actually went that direction. Many places had the Wi-fi Vita with a free 4GB memory card or the 3G with a free 8GB memory card. I think this promotion actually moved a lot of Vitas, including the one I bought. Many people didn't want to make an extra investment just to play Uncharted and since they got the memory for free they didn't have to.

I definitely don't think sales will be stellar until we see price drops. It's obviously not doing so hot since you can still get one at every store. If people were buying record numbers of Vitas, it would be difficult to get your hands on one.

Have you guys seen the sales figure for the vita?
this was taken from a post by another member on GDD.

Xbox 360 - 426K
PlayStation 3 - 360K
Nintendo 3DS - 262K
Nintendo Wii - 228K
PlayStation Vita - 225K
Nintendo DS - 135K

I think that isn't bad for launch granted they didn't really do a lot of publicizing before hand.
