It's only been a year since Pokemon Black and White released, but already there are rumblings of the next two versions of Pokemon in the works for 3DS.
Recently, at a recent Japanese Q&A event, Pokemon Black and White director Junichi Masuda said to keep an eye on "Pokemon Smash," a weekly TV program in Japan, as well as following him on Twitter for updates when a fan asked about when the next main installments in the series would be released.
Sounds like they're getting close to announcing something of the sort, otherwise Masuda probably wouldn't have been so specific in his response. Then again, maybe he's just trying to drum up viewership for the TV show and followers for his Twitter account? Who knows.
While it does seem fairly soon for another set of games in the main series, Nintendo would benefit greatly from the presence of new Pokemon games on the 3DS to help further cement its current momentum.

It's bound to happen. If I were Game Freak, Inc. (yes, the entire company), I wouldn't want to miss out on the unprecedented success the 3DS is having as of late.

3D Pokemon? Yessir, sign me up.
Hope they do announce it. I skipped out on B/W but I'd be glad to get back into the series on the 3DS.

Hopefully they do a rehaul of the series. They can only release the same game with new skins for so long.

Nintendo direct conference is due Feb 22 (tomorrow). Hopefully they'll reveal it.

Assuming they never put in any effort. And considering Black & White were among the 18 games to ever get a perfect score from Famitsu, I'd say the effort is there.

Hmm or it could be Pokemon Gray like a Expansion to Pokemon Black and White just like Pokemon Platinum was an Expansion to Pokemon Diamond and Pearl.
