I had a thread like this before but just wanted to start it up again since I think it is interesting ^^

Mine still remains the "If they came to hear me beg" Achievement on Halo reach. Took me a while to get it but it felt good when I did.

This is a sample video of the achievement. Not mine but someone else BTW ^^

Enjoy!

Just looking at my list of "Best Achievements" on TrueAchievements, I see some that were kind of annoying to get but most of those were just a time sink, not any real test of skill.

I was incredibly proud to get every achievement in Rayman Origns, though. That definitely took some effort.

I don't really have a specific achievement from modern gaming that I'm particularly proud of. If they would have had achievements in the old days, my most memorable achievement would have been when I beat Battletoads on the NES.

Yeah that "If they came to hear me beg" Achievement on Halo reach was pretty hard. Although not really an achievement, I recently got enough credits in Reach to buy inclement weather. Yay. But I chose not to buy it, haha. Tomb Raider was another really frustrating game to get all the achievements for. Not that it was particularly hard, but just frustrating. I also remember being excited when I got a lot of the achievements for Left For Dead. I really liked that game unfortunately I never got LFD2.

Probably beating veteran mode on Treyarch's COD games. I get frustrated doing their games, but not Infinity Wards. Oh bink we should get together and play some L4D sometime. I could use some help for those achievements. Lol.

Not an achievement technically but a trophy since I have it on PS3, but beating Dead Space 2 on Hardcore mode. That was brutal and I literally danced around my room when I did it.

Oh yeah I remember getting the Mile High one. That was pretty satisfying too ^^.
@ Kezins Mad props for beating battletoads man!! I remember playing that game and not even being able to clear the first couple levels.

If we count pre achievement days it would be playing Ninja Gaiden and placing within 100 in the 2nd Master Ninja Tournament ^^

Thanks. I threw my controller a bunch of times on Battletoads. My skills have deteriorated a little over the years, so I don't think I could beat it now. My current goal is to beat Demon's Souls this summer and move on to Dark Souls. I don't like the stress of games like that, but once you beat them, you can't put a price on the happiness it brings you.

I keep saying this but Dark Souls is well worth your time ^^
If I had a PS3 I would be all over Demon Soul's but knowing I will never get the chance.
I watched a speed run of Demon Souls.
I recommend you check them out *only* after you finished the games ^^

Oh, wow, I don't know how I forgot this.

My proudest achievement is definitely "Bulletproof" for beating Contra using only one credit.

Well, I don't care about trophies/achievements nowadays in all honesty (I'd rather just...enjoy the game, too old for that crap). But back in the day, I was pretty proud of my accomplishments in Star Ocean: Til the end of time. Where I got.... 96% of the battle trophies, which made me nothing short of a crazy person (seriously, achievements/trophies nowadays have nothing on the crap you had to do for some of those). I was really proud of defeating Freya (in general) and beating the madman's difficulty 4D. My life is better off not hearing the words "I shall purify you!" ever again though, personally.

Speaking of more semi-older school stuff, I was also pretty proud of doing the hellish 15 minute melee in Super Smash Bros: Melee, aka 15 minutes of tapping down b with Donkey Kong (and panicking when interrupted). The stage unlock wasn't worth the pain, but a feat I was proud of accomplishing none the less. Too bad I lost all of my data when my friend accidently overwrote it when I brought the memory card over to their place (of course the game gives you the option to overwrite your data as soon you boot of the game, if you didn't have the memory card in right away...)

What? You mean I can't talk about old Sony in Nintendo games in a Microsoft thread? Oh well...

I definitely agree that the in-game achievements in old games are nothing like the achievements today for the most part. The whole trophy/achievement system now is just a marketing ploy anyway.

dude you should get a ps3 then. I just got demon souls, and can't wait to play it. Probably will play it this summer once I get a new TV for my room. I am excited now but I bet once I play it i'll be really angry that I can't beat it haha.

Haha I am not planning on getting a PS3 because well... limited time and I got enough games to play for now ^^

As for trophies and achievements. Yeah... some companies actually take the time to make good and creative ones while some companies are just stupid and lazy.

I think that Valve is a company that does achievements very well. Bad example... well any achievement that simply makes you collect things is annoying in my opinion.

Any thoughts on what makes a good achievement or not?

It's a good thing I checked first before making an exact copy of this thread. :P

As far as achievements I'm proud of, they're mostly the same old veteran and legendary achievements from the CoD and Halo series, respectively.

However, since we're talking about memorable, I will list the following:

Halo 3: ODST: "I Like Fire" I do like fire.

Deadlight: (Everything?) Haven't actually played it yet, but it seems like they're all 80's song titles.

CoD WaW: "Big Baller" & "Perkaholics Anonymous" I am actually proud of these. Acquired them all by myself.

CoD MW2: "Red Dawn" Part of it required to complete level "Wolverines!" References to Red Dawn movie.

I'm happy with the achievements I got from Lost Odyssey. I didn't get them all, nor did I get the most annoying ones (learn all skills on all immortals and beat the Arena completely), but I did A LOT of stuff in that game, and the achievements show that. I did all the sidequests, and some of those were... very, very painful.

I don't have much else I'm proud of, though. I give up on achievements and trophies alike if they're too tough/annoying.

So far little sister savior on Bioshock 1 has the most emotional value.
But I'm pretty sure platinum Skyrim is going to top that.
Only have 1 more trophy to go Oblivion Walker: Collect 15 Deadric Artifacts.
I plan to start a new character with the new DLC and get that trophy.

I got 100% for Oblivion and that was kinda cool. I played through the game a couple more times after that. The achievements for it weren't ones you had to focus on which I liked. I like just playing a game without worrying about any trophies or achievements.
