I wasn't originally going to pick up SSX for PS3 because I just didn't feel like the game would be great, but my friends pressured me into getting it so I could play online with them. So far, I like the game. The graphics are great, fancy tricks are a little smoother to pull off and the music is definitely good. My main complaint is that you can't adjust the sensitivity at all. I seem to always turn sharper and faster than I want to. Maybe I'll get used to it after a while, but I think I would still prefer SSX on the original Xbox. Overall, controls felt more natural on the old games. We'll see how things go I guess. I'll definitely end up enjoying the game, but not sure how much yet.

The turning controls are pretty touchy from what I've played and it took some time to get used to (I only did the Deadly Descents mode before returning the game back to gamefly), but in all fairness I think some of the stages really demand turning sensitivity because several levels are sprinkled with quite a few obstacles and/or you need to transition to one place really quickly to chain a combo or something.

Anyway, after playing it personally I thought it was kind of fun, but I still had a lingering feeling that like I'd rather play something more akin to the older SSX games (like Tricky) where it was more arcadey and there was less obstacles to constantly hamper your momentum...also, I swear they didn't feel as repetitive. And I'm not really the nostalgic type when it comes to games, I like to see stuff changed up, but I dunno. I've seen some really positive opinions and reviews of the game, so maybe I looked at the game wrong as I was playing it. Hope you and your friends like it, I hear the online is pretty well-done and seamless (if you are looking for local play...well...).

There are some levels where it's almost impossible to miss the trees. SSX Tricky was definitely more of an arcade game and was more enjoyable than this game. I still think the new SSX is a good game, but not as good as the old ones. It also annoys me that EA gives you the option to purchase credits in the game to make you better. I am really turned off with the idea that people can pay to make a game easier. I refuse to take part in that.

Man, I still need to get this, especially since it's apparent that I won't be getting a copy from EA now. :(

But yeah, I'm looking forward to it; seems like it has a lot of meat to it and enough extra content to keep me occupied for a while.

The demo seemed fun. I wouldn't buy it because I know a snowboarding game wouldn't hold my interest for long.

Never played any SSX before this, I was a Cool Boarders 3 junkie. Played this last night, and while it was fairly fun to play, I am not sure if I can justify buying the game outright. And one thing I thought was annoying was the mountains that required Oxygen Tanks.. But the Glider levels were quite fun, until you needed it longer than what it allowed.

I actually played this in Best Buy today on the demo machine and it didn't really keep my interest. Some mixed martial arts fighting game on another demo station kept my attention more than SSX. SSX just felt very fast paced (which wasn't bad at all), but confusing and simplistic at the same time if that's even possible. The controls felt weird to me too, having the rewind button as the Left bumper. Felt like it should've been a trick button or something... Anyways I never played the original games but some guy came up while I was playing and was excited to see the new one out because he said he was all over the older games.

I meant a review copy (for journalists reviewing the game).

Oh okay. I was about to say, shoot sign me up too. How come they didn't send you one this year?

Mostly because they get many requests for review copies for big titles like that, but are only able to fulfill some of the requests due to limited stock. Hopefully next time though!

Judging from your other thread I guess you shouldn't let your friends dictate your gaming purchases.
