The idea for this post is for us to be able to share gaming sites we've come across that we just had to bookmark because they contained a lot of useful information, provided a great service of some sort, or something else. Here, I'll show some links that I consider useful and you can probably see what I mean.

HowLongToBeat:

This site is excellent for anyone who's ever wondered how long a game would probably take to beat. Oftentimes I would search game lengths before choosing a title to play simply because I don't have as much free time as I used to. The site certainly doesn't have every game out but it's getting better every week.

PriceCharting:

Are you looking at buying a game off Amazon, eBay, or Craigslist? Do you ever get curious if you can get a game for cheaper or if they're always selling about the same price? That's where this site comes in handy. Just search a title and you'll get a nice graph that shows the prices it has gone for over the past months or even years.

The Backloggery:

If you're looking to make a list of the games you own or need to beat/have beaten then this is one great place to do it. Unfortunately it doesn't have a database of titles to pick from so you have to type in titles yourself. This is useful in a way though if you have a lot of games which tend not to show up on other gaming site databases, since you can still input them whereas on another site you wouldn't be able to.

Digitpress:

Are you ever curious if you've got a really rare game on your hands? This site has an online rarity guide to help you find out! Unfortunately it isn't really focused around newer games (but then again, most new games are not scarce at all). Still, if you're thinking you're sitting on some holy grail NES titles you can look them up here before pawning them off at a yard sale.

Here will be a list of other sites recommended by GPers:

Cheap Ass Gamer - Check out the latest gaming deals! Be sure to check the forums for even more.
GameFAQs - The first place to check when you need a game guide or quick answer to a problem.
NeoGAF - Forum which often breaks news.
VideoGamesBlogger - News site that is very frequently updated.

The Backloggery is definitely a cool site. It's just going to take me forever to add all the games I've played over the years. LOL

Cheap Ass Gamer is amazing! I can't believe I forgot it. Will add that into the first post now, so everyone can keep track of good sites easily, haha. :)

Thanks for these sites. These are really nice to have. I would say you can add gamefaqs.com as another site. it has walkthrough for pretty much every game out there. So if you are ever stuck or looking for something specific, I would recommend that site.

Oh wow, yeah, GameFAQs is so useful. It's one of the biggest reasons I rarely buy strategy guides anymore. Why buy a book when you can quickly find any answer to a problem? I guess that's why companies try to put out more special/limited/collector's editions of them now.

It is a lifesaver when you can just type a few words and get the clue you need to complete a task or such.

I might be in the minority here though when I say that there are times that I rather use a strategy guide over getting on sites like GameFAQs and the various wikis out there for games. When I'm playing on the PS3, most times I rather just grab the book then leave the PS3 to get on my laptop. Or if I'm playing on the PS3, then there is a good chance someone is on the laptop. Unless it's while the boys are in school.

While I still prefer a hard copy of a guidebook, sometimes simply for collectors mentality, the amount of guides I purchases has declined greatly. I now buy only 2-4 guides a year, if that. Well, not counting penny guides.

Considering getting the ME3 guide though, it looks quite nice.

I would prefer the guide book actually because it has pictures and it shows you exactly where you need to go. Sometimes the guide isn't as clear as you like, but it still does it job if you want to 100% everything, which is what I am all about. I'm just very anal about trying to max out in my game and getting everything and finding all the side quest. But gamefaqs is nice like you all mentioned, ctrl f is a wonderful tool with that site. But hey, I can use gamefaqs for free so it kinda of makes me not get the book itself. But it is nice the people that write the guide love the game, because they do insert funny comments here and there which is cool.

Interesting thread. I thought it was asking us of our personal preference in gaming sites that inform us of everything! lol
