As an April Fool's joke. However, I keep reading that they plan on keeping Toonami as Adult Swim's Saturday anime block. If that's the case, I can now die happy...

I will update this thread if I know for sure that Toonami is forever back.

And if you missed out on this glorious joke, here is the first video in the series of uploads a nice Youtuber decided to share.

Now let's discuss how undeniably happy we all are...

Man you got me there. I really thought it was back until I read your post. They should bring it back though, I don't see why not. I'm sure a lot will tune in. I'm sure of it.

I feel as if it DID come back, it just wouldn't be the same. Back then Toonami was the best because it was where we got our fill of all the shows we know and love. Nowadays though, what with the internet, Netflix and all that other stuff I just don't think it'll have that kind of influence anymore. TV is dying, it's sad but true. People want their entertainment on demand, commercial free and in HD.

Well, speaking of internet, apparently #Toonami became the #1 trending topic in the world on Twitter. Also, Steve Blum, voice of TOM (as well as countless other voices like Cowboy Bebop's Spike Spiegel) had this to say:

"For the record, Wikipedia, I did NOT say it's here to stay. ...But I sure hope so. Let 'em know you want it, people."

So my guess is that it's entirely possible that this could actually happen if enough fans want it to. Perhaps they simply used April Fool's Day as a test to see the reaction Toonami created, and if reviving it would be a good idea? Who knows? But with the internet exploding from this "joke," hopefully something good will happen in the future regarding TOM's return...

Also, for those of you who missed it or didn't check out the link I posted, TOM totally reviewed Mass Effect 3 :P

I don't necessarily agree with everything. Yea it probably isn't the same as back then before we can get everything on demand and streamed. But I think kids growing up would watch it. Not everyone stream. I like to take out my 30-60min to watch my show on tv as a set time instead of going back the next day to watch it. Mainly because I know I won't. I think it'll be good, probably not as good. I'm sure a lot of us that grew out of it won't consider watching.

I'm with you. I don't even bother paying for cable. I can watch whatever I want online whenever I want. There are very few shows actually worth watching nowadays and TV is killing itself. I loved Toonami back then but it isn't really necessary today and I doubt it would live up.

Toonami was the stuff back then.....Ahhhhh.....

On a side yet related note, my sister happened to be watching Adult Swim when the Toonami thing came on and she freaked out. It wasn't until a day later though that she found out it wasn't real and just an April Fool's joke. It was pretty funny to see her moping around after she found out. ^_^

Update:

Adult Swim's most recent tweet says:

"#BringBackToonami We've heard you. Thank you for your passion and interest - stay tuned."

This sounds promising

I think this really means Toonami will be back. If so, I wonder what lineup would they have? Naruto, bleach and onepiece?

Probably Bleach, since it was, like, the only current anime they showed Saturday, but I doubt Naruto, since Disney XD now has it. As for One Piece, who can say? But I won't get my hopes up. Even though the new dub is great, the atrocity of the old one kinda destined it for failure on TV, since everyone's too afraid to watch it. That's why it got canceled, after all...

I'm sure if it is back they will have a few planned for, maybe even death note. But the more I watch these anime, the more I prefer it in japanese and just read the subtitles. Plus I won't have to wait per week to watch them. Still be cool to see them bring it back. I never kept up with the toonami lineup back then, I lost track of toonami years ago, didn't know onepiece got cancelled. I figured everyone loves it and will watch it, all the kids mostly. Be cool if they can put naruto in somehow, work with disney on that because fans would love that.

I know two things.

I watched Toonami from 12 am to 3:30 am.

And I didn't watch at all this past Saturday.

Ever since [Adult Swim] pulled that stunt, I've been going to http://www.toonamiaftermath.com and been watching all those classic shows during the Toonami days. Good times.

I highly recommend checking that site out for good times. :-)
