Rumors have been around for a while that Sony was working on their own sort of Super Smash Bros game. These rumors were finally confirmed during tonight's episode of GameTrailers TV. The fighting game is real and titled PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale and features both first party and third party characters.
Although there were only six characters showcased so far it gives a good example of what to expect from the game's roster. On display were Kratos of God of War, Sweet Tooth of Twisted Metal, Sly Cooper, Fat Princess, PaRappa of PaRappa the Rapper, and Colonel Radec of Killzone. This is only the tip of the iceberg as we haven't even seen what third-party characters they're going to bring into the fray.
So far it hasn't been decided if there will be DLC for the game, but there probably will be. President of developer SuperBot Entertainment Chan Park said that there's a "ton of DLC potential". Incredibly, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is currently set for a holiday 2012 launch.
What characters do you expect to see in Sony's free-for-all fighter?

That looks cool, though I can't help but think SSB with a Sony backdrop. I wonder what kind of spin it will have that will make it different, or if it will pretty much just be a SSB but for the PS3.
I like the graphics in this one and the characters, though I don't have PS3
Now I just have to wait for the Microsoft version >.<

This could be interesting. I'm not a huge fan of this type of game, but I'd be willing to check it out especially if they decide to add Move controls.

From the perspective of a Sony fan, this game looks awesome. If they went as far to include Patapon and Hot Shots Golf, the character and environment lists are going to be deep.
At the very least I expect to see Cole McGrath, Crash Bandicoot and Nathan Drake. It will be interesting to see what 3rd party characters will be in the game. Possibly Solid Snake, Altair, or Issac Clarke.

I can't think of too many characters for a Microsoft version, now that I think about it. You could probably have 3 or 4 different Halo-based characters, like Master Chief, the Arbiter, and maybe two others (maybe even Cortana if you want to get really creative), Banjo and Kazooie, Marcus Fenix and probably a few others from Gears of War, and...a few cars from Forza?
This would actually make for a good thread; Ima go start one right now.

I'm definitely interested in this, I've always loved the Smash Bros. series and with Sony characters it would be even better.

I'm depressed that there's no Heavy Rain characters. I wanna have my final technique be shouting, "JASOOOOON!" at the enemy.

I hope my namesake makes an appearance in this game. I was hoping they would do it a little differently than Smash Bros, maybe 3d arenas as opposed to the layered 2d ones. They are definitely following that game to a T, but that isn't so bad either I guess.
